White House attorney Ty Cobb was overheard talking about the Russia probe and some of his colleagues at a Washington steakhouse by a New York Times reporter, the publication reported Sunday night.
Cobb, who was hired to oversee the White House's legal and media response to the investigation into Russian meddling, was heard talking openly about the Russia investigation with John Dowd, a Washington lawyer with experience in high-profile political cases.
"The White House counsel's office is being very conservative with this stuff," Cobb reportedly told Dowd at BLT Steak in Washington last week. "Our view is we're not hiding anything."
He added White House counsel Don McGahn had "a couple of documents locked in a safe" that he suggested he wanted access to.
Cobb also expressed concern with a White House lawyer he didn't name in the conversation.
"I've got some reservations about one of them," Cobb reportedly said. "I think he's like a McGahn spy."

Cobb is a smart guy. The Slimes and CNN got punked.
Maybe it was all loud BS, just to see if they were being followed or watched by journalists....
“Is it legal to tape a conversation without the other person(s) knowing its being recorded? “
Not in a public setting but if you bug your neighbors bedroom ...
Correction: OK in a public setting ...
How about this. Cobb deliberately spoke loudly so that some leftist journalist would pick up the “disinformation” he was saying and put into print, only to be discredited down the pike.
“Disinformatizia” is a two way street, NYT. I wonder if Cobb got you media hooker, line and stinker.
It is also a way of exposing “moles” inside the White House.
This could be really good!

President Trump Directs White House Counsel to Find FISA Warrants, heatst.com ^ | March 5, 2017

A senior White House official tells the New York Times that White House counsel, Donald F. McGahn is now searching for a FISA warrant or series of warrants allegedly issued in an Obama-era investigation of Donald Trumps ties to a shifty Russian bank. The official says that McGahns office wants access to any order, issued by the ultra-secretive Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, relating to President Trump, his campaign, or his immediate associates. ...
I have that understanding in NC also but Linda Tripp supposedly broke a law in MD by taping the cigar girl without her permission. It depends on the state.
IF any of the report is true, Cobb is a fool, as is Dowd, for talking in a public venue about this sensitive matter, or any case whatsoever. Just damned fools. IF any of this is true.
And how would a super, high-profile insider lawyer not recognize a NYT reporter?
That was my point, STATE LAW determines if both or only one party has right to tape a conversation. NC is one party state last time I checked....several years ago.
How do we know we can trust Cobb when he worked for the Clintons on the John Huang matter?
Update MUELLER REPORT REACTION:
Former White House counsel Don McGahn resigned instead of firing Mueller
