The thread headline was revised last night to reflect Category 5 status as Maria approached St. Croix and Puerto Rico.

All sources indicate sustained winds of 155 mph at 0635 Puerto Rico landfall this morning, and local radar was incapacitated shortly thereafter.

Your statement is incorrect. Maria was not a Category 2 storm about the time it hit Puerto Rico.

It apparently became Cat 2 as a result of hitting PR.

Is it picking up again now?
