Thanks so much!
Dear Lord, if I feel overwhelmed. Thousands of miles way, I can only
imagine how the thousands affected feel...and all of our wonderful first responders. I am a very old lady, and all I can offer is my prayers. Please, Dear Father God, let your face shine upon these people. Please, I beg of you, calm the waters, as you did at Galilee. Hear the cry of your people. Give them strength for the Journey, bread for the day... I am pleading for them, Abba!
Thanks for this report. If he says that it’s of Biblical proportions, then the effect of this hurricane will be as predicted. Please keep sending updates as you receive them. Glad at least they’re protected so far.
Thank you for your family updates. This has been an excruciatingly harrowing experience for them—and for you. Hoping that PR cell service is functioning and you soon get another update from your Mom. Early reports 100% of PR without electricity.
Thank you for sharing your prayer with us. Beautiful.
Thank-you for the hurricane updates!
She just married a young man in the coast guard and moved there 3 weeks ago. I’m in Missouri.
BULLETIN
Hurricane Maria Advisory Number 19
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL AL152017
500 PM AST Wed Sep 20 2017
...CATASTROPHIC FLASH FLOODING OCCURRING OVER PORTIONS OF PUERTO
RICO...
...CONDITIONS NOW DETERIORATING OVER EASTERN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC...
SUMMARY OF 500 PM AST...2100 UTC...INFORMATION
Interesting note in the 5:00PM Discussion:
We would like to thank the crew of the latest Air Force Reserve
mission for their incredible service today. After beginning their
mission this morning before the center first moved onshore, the crew
went above and beyond, returning to Curacao to refuel, and then
heading back to Puerto Rico to catch Maria’s center when it first
moved back off the coast. The data collected by the crew was
incredibly important for us to analyze Maria’s intensity and
structure after moving across the island, and we are grateful for
their effort.
Glad you parents are updating you and survived the night.
Nevertheless, that is a brain smoker for sure.
Weather Underground is showing Maria as a Cat 2.
When did it hit the Cat 5 stage?
It was cat 4 when it hit puerto rico I think......but the mountains there were expected to ‘take the bite out’....once past the coast....they’ll be a mess no doubt.
A lot of the buildings in Puerto Rico are cement or concrete that will withstand the hit better than the old world ones.....if they kept the roofs on.
Flooding is the big problem.
Note that the headline on the thread is from four days ago.
Dropped to a Cat 2 about the time it hit PR around 12 hours ago.
Expected to restrengthen by some accounts.
New York Times had a story today totally about Dominica, yet the map they printed with the story did not have Dominica on it, or not pointed out.
I’m guessing that with their copy editors gone, someone thought Dominica and the Dominican Republic were the same thing and there was no one left to correct him.
Looks like it’s already getting its’ act back together.
