Newcomer Maria threatens to impact the Caribbean Islands already devastated by Hurricane Irma, and brushed by Jose. Hurricane Jose threatens to brush or impact New England. Lee appears to be a fish storm at this time.

I don’t follow Bastardi. What little I saw, looked like he was hedging his predictions with three crudely drawn lines east, west and down the middle. What’s not correct with that spread?
Look how steep the north shore is, all the way out into the water. One major watershed NE of the summit too. They’ll be getting it from uphill and down.

Radio Station in Dominica says that their Prime Minister’s house lost its roof and flooding inside.
Was thinking the same thing. And the storm is moving only 9mph. Plenty of rainfall at all elevations.
Long N-S ridge will back up the surge runup, and the E-W ridge and scalloped shoreline will shoulder it right. Only saving grace I see is the short reach and duration of the Cat 5 winds.

Exactly and higher winds at mountain elevation...tearing trees down...and mudslides. Brutal.

Also another poster reports utilities & internet are underground -- possibly why the internet radio station is still on.
That was sort of my take...yet people have said he is an excellent forecaster...perhaps the best.
Guess like everything else, everyone has a bad call from time to time.

Lightning in hurricanes is a bad sign. Normally doesn’t occur but when they do it’s associated with tornadoes.
