Rogers: US Preparing for 'Real Military Exercise' Against NKorea
NBC ^ | 15 Sep 2017

Former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers said Friday that the United States had four options — "all real options" — on North Korea and that the Defense Department was "in preparation for a real military exercise."

"There are really four options that the United States looks at," Rogers, the former Michigan GOP representative, told Jake Tapper on CNN. "They're all real options.

"They all have a different set of consequences."

Rogers said that the first was "decapitation, meaning you strike the leadership," including dictator Kim Jong Un "and some of the senior leaders around him.

"Take them out of the equation," he added.

The others include a limited strike on Pyongyang's nuclear apparatus — "the ability to produce, design, and the way that they can get those problem rockets to and from the launch pads.

"The next one," Rogers said, was a "full-on, let's-get-it-done, take-out of the 8,000 artillery tubes on the border — or as many as you can — and move South Korean troops over the DMZ."

"That's obviously a bad one," Rogers said of the latter choice, noting that Seoul, South Korea, is 35 miles from the North Korean border has about 25 million residents.

"It has huge casualty counts.

"But they're real options — and all of the things you see happening with our Defense Department is in preparation for a real military exercise.

"They're sending a very clear signal to Kim Jong Un: 'Listen, this is for real.' And hopefully it does."

The final option remains diplomacy, Rogers told Tapper.

"We're willing to do those, but you're going to have to cooperate," he said of North Korea.

"I think they're trying to set the table for a stronger and a better-negotiated diplomatic solution at the end of the day."

What exactly do you think China has to lose? I think the time for action is here. That said I think war with China is inevitable. I also think China would certainly crash its own economy to permanently take Taiwan, the Senkaku islands and kicking the west out of Asia. I have also decided debating what to do is pointless if the other party hasn’t admitted North Korea is certainly doing as China wants. China has a population problem. Too many military aged men with no available women. China knew they couldn’t win the last time yet here we are. Hawks should know better than to think the doves will let us win this time either. Doves should just flat out know better. Our best solution for china long term is arming the crap out of Japan, South Korea, and just as importantly India. Make peace with Russia but arm Poland and one other former Soviet Bloc country of your choice first. Treat Pakistan as it should be. Tell the EU we are done carrying our blood in their water pails. Clean up South America too (remove hostile governments and foreign government/group agents, etc.) Throw in Iran,Syria, isis, etc. Sounds like a tall off topic order huh? Well that’s the rub. War with North Korea will be a larger conflict unless its over nuke fast. Any of the hostile governments listed have proven time and again how little value their people are. They don’t have that much to lose and everything to gain.

Why are our military options being telegraphed all over the news?? That’s insane.

Don’t underestimate the power of lifetime indoctrination. It will take time and effort for the North Koreans to come to understand. In the meantime they will fight like demons. It was the same with the Germans and Nazis, the Japanese and the militarists, and the Russians and Soviets. The last one, “We honestly believed we were the greatest and luckiest country with the best life possible”, I saw for myself.

This is such sweet music to my ears . Roger is credible. I am afraid this is just another planted bluff. But we need to preempt Nork very very soon and quit talking. Talking got us a hydrogen Bomb capable of killing 20 million Americans or EMP 100 million into the stone age and it got us a well build Chinese ICBM with a NORK name on it. Shut up and knock the hell out of them. Those artillery are worthless with 5 tactical low mgt yield with a southwest wind . Then get fat boy 5 minutes later.

Option 4 is never going to get rid of NK’s nukes, it is just something that Kim won’t do. Negotiations are just a way for Kim to buy time for further development, and to get more money for empty promises.

I tried telling some one on another post that only the Russians have and use cluster munitions that we did away with them, but was not believed, same with the neutron bomb - only the Chiese have it.

A ‘full blockade’ would include interdiction at the NOKO-Chinese border, the NOKO-Russian border, and the closing of all the mountain smuggling routes, as well as the usual areas.

Not happening.

The Iraqi soldiers had vast stretches of desert to fade into, the NOKO have no where to go and know that they would be shot on sight as well as their families.

They are, however, rumored to be increasingly ill-fed. So food might be an angle, as well as their ability to keep up the physical strength to actually fight.

Only one of the two missiles actually worked, which showed Kimmy that their SOKO stuff is not all that fearsome.

Agreed that we will not attempt to blockade the borders with China and Russia, but we can and likely will blockade the remainder. That will make it clear that it can only be China and Russia helping them.

Sam Cohen, inventor of the Neutron bomb, thought Bush I was beyond dumb to destroy our arsenal of them. Heard him in the 90’s, on talk radio. I believe he said that a country in the Mideast had them. Anyone remember Sam Cohen? After listening to the very old man, I thought “Treason” is the only explanation for a President to voluntarily give up the Neutron bomb.
