Then there is the UN. It was the UN that was at war with North Korea back in the 50’s. The UN is responding with sanctions rather than war

One could certainly argue that they have the right to act but even if they have the ability I doubt they'd do so.Why,you ask...well,consider that their military is called the "Self Defense Force".

Since WW2 Japan has not, per their constitution, been allowed an offensive military force. A great relief to their neighbors.
For some time they did not have a coast guard, the US took care of even that.
They now have a military that is small and defence oriented.
It would take an amendment to the Japanese constitution to build an offense oriented military.
Knowing the Japanese they probably have just such an amendment written and waiting for the proper time.
It is probably in the same envelope with the legislative bill to assemble the nuclear components they do not have to build the nuclear weapons they do not have. Yet.

Not necessarily....stakes are very high when determining when and if to fire back. To say ‘We’re’ not being threatened is in error.....and you don’t wait til your attacked to engage...come on..this is the nuclear age. Fatboy can reach Guam now and threatened to do so....that is us.
