Yep, and this is why I loathe most of the current government policy critters. Back in the 60s with people like Ike in charge, there was a real civil defense effort. Classes in every community taught to the citizens.
Our 8th grade teacher was one of the civil defense teachers, so he brought his gear and taught our class a lot of stuff about it. I remember most the demo with the irradiated banana - the gieger counter beeping. Then he peeled it, and showed us that the radiation was not on the inside fruit, and then he ate the banana. LOL
There were stock piles of food in the shelters and elsewhere. Now we got zip - under the current ilk, Pubbies and Dems the Political class has all the provisions and shelters. The public has zilch.
Technically I believe the correct term is potassium iodide. I always just think Iodine - protect the thyroid.
Eh I guess not on this subject...But then I have a lot of family there—conservative-to-the-core family.
I am some somewhat sensitized to this issue as there are way too many here who are not saying things in jest...they really would like California to be vaporized. Seriously, I have debated them.
So sometimes it is hard for me to to tell where the humor (dark or otherwise) starts and ends...
As was pointed out there are 5-6 million republicans/conservatives in California...more than some of the less populated states.
I just think people can be very insensitive when stereotyping Californians, New Yorkers, etc. Many good people live in those areas...I live in Chicagoland, and I can assure you my neighborhood did not support Clinton.
The ways to more quickly invite a nuclear exchange are to weaken American families by sending manufacturing—men’s jobs—to foreign soil, by propagating a divorce-cohabitation regime and fatherlessness to the rest of the country, pushing conservative American men out of universities while inviting the enemy into them and by pushing the government to recede in the face of nuclear weapons buildups in foreign expansionist nations for the sake of more import dollars to narrow interests.
At this point in the outrages, it’s difficult for many of us, at times, to be serious about such extremes in the trend of national morbidity and decades of human suffering. It does tend to evoke speechlessness and laughter at the nearly unbelievable hideousness of the situation.
With all of the sincerity that I can muster once again, though, it must be awful, living on the west coast or in the northeast now—something like living east of the Rhine immediately before the end of either of the previous world wars.
Thank you from a New York state resident.
Upstate NY is NOT NYC.
I also think that many who blanket condemn everyone for how their state *voted* fail to consider that the state may have gone Dem as a result of election fraud.
It appears that that is just what happened in NH.
