Shattuck: Social justice at Fenway, or a special kind of stupid?
The Boston Herald ^ | 09-15-17 | Tom Shattuck

Posted on 09/15/2017 2:18:37 AM PDT by calvincaspian

Stupidity is as American as baseball.

This summer the World Series of Stupid has taken place at Fenway Park. Wednesday night a dim-witted band of social justice warriors unfurled a banner on the left field wall which read, “Racism is as American as baseball.”

It took five of them to come up with that sad and mangled attempt at profundity. Many in the park wondered whether the sentiment was pro- or anti-racism.

When CSNNE reporter Evan Drellich caught up with them, they expounded in an equally flaccid manner, saying, “We want to remind everyone that just as baseball is fundamental to American culture and history, so too is racism. ... White people need to wake up to this reality before white supremacy can truly be dismantled.”

How long must we suffer these morons?

They’ve got no real life experiences and so are compelled to fill the romantic corners of their minds with noble role playing in the form of (in this case) illiterate activism. They unfurl banners, kneel for the anthem, and disrupt everything they can.

The service of the military veteran the Red Sox were honoring during the banner incident is true heroism. Getting booted from Fenway over said banner is the participation trophy version.

And the Boston Red Sox are right there to validate them.

Boston is seen by the rest of the country as this bastion of liberalism.

But, Fenway is filled with “regular” people. Honestly, I am surprised that these folks were not assaulted when they unfurled this banner. My guess is most people did not even see the banner until they got home.

I’m wondering if this is the same bunch that blocked Route 93 into Boston a little while back.

Neuter and spay every one of these tools, lest society be saddled with their defective progeny ad infinitum.

They were booed and then ejected.

Like everything else in this city Fenway gets gentrified more and more every year. Cigar smoke gone, Women’s bathroom added under the bleachers, pink sox hats, it ain’t the park I went to in the 70’s and 80’s.

Over-privileged rich white kids attending $60,000 a year grad school at B.U. All living in gentrified extremely expensive Somerville, averaging $2000 a bedroom a month. 1 from Maine, 1 from California, 1 from Vermont virtue- signaling and calling people they don’t know racist.

It’s not justice.

Social Justice is the unholy marriage of Communism and racism against Whites.

The last time I was in the stands at Fenway was probably in the mid 1990’s. (I worked in the Cable business and I spent many an afternoon and evening in the NESN sky box.)

Do they still have the “piss-walls” for the men? The only place nastier than that was the mens room in the old boston garden.

As someone who attends several Red Sox games at Fenway Park each year, I agree with you. Like at most baseball parks (MLB and minor league), Fenway is overwhelmingly filled with "regular" folks.

We've been to Fenway once or twice when John Effin' Kerry was in the stands and introduced by the PA announcer: The BOOs far outweighed the polite clapping.
