Following a rash of retirements, House Republican leaders are scrambling to get something done legislatively to convince other frustrated members not to toss in the towel in a tough political environment.
Its not much fun to be a House Republican these days. President Trump has repeatedly taken potshots at their conference. Primary challenges burble on the right. Congress has been unable to pass much meaningful legislation in spite of unified control of Washington. Every trip home means an earful both from liberals furious at their support of the president and conservatives irate theyre not doing enough to support his agenda. And members who havent seen real competition for years face tough races due to Trumps deep unpopularity.
That weighs heavily on Republicans who are on the fence about returning.
The jury may be out for some folks.
Some days it feels discouraging, said Rep. Mark Amodei (R-NV), who told TPM he was likely to run for reelection but admitted his final decision in March was a long ways away.

True and the exodus is from RINOs like Charlie Dent who are facing certain primary elimination.
At least they admit they have No conviction or character and only do what is expedient or their lobbyist tells them.
Paul Ryan is from WI.
WI is a bulwark for US crony capitalism.
Paul Ryan will be elected time, and time again.
Folk from WI ain’t going to let anyone take away the butter on their bread.
They are suffering from PTDS- President Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Our original constitution was replaced via the ConCon of 1787, and then officially in 1789!
See Gary North’s writings and others for details if interested.
FINO
*****
None of these guys ought to be in Washington more than ten years anyway.
It’s bad for the country.
A flush of fresh water would clear the cesspool.
RINOS resign en mass. I’m looking forward to that headline.
Anyone with a pair could be having the time of their lives.
>>Dont get confused.
I assure you that I am not confused. Who do you think finances the Progs, the Cheap Labor Express, and the two parties?
Don’t be confused and think that we live in a free market anymore. It’s not 1988.
Look at your “bad guys”. They can’t pour piss out of a boot. They are some rudderless politicians chasing polls and donors backed up by a bunch of bureaucrats who are only interested in protecting their pensions. They’re bad, but they sure aren’t THE bad guys. Follow the money to find the bad guys.
“..House Republican leaders are scrambling to get something done legislatively to convince other frustrated members.. [to stay]”
Hmmm, “House Republican leaders”
Who can that be?
Hmm... thinking.. thinking....
“House Republican leaders” are causing a mass exodus because of the failure of the “House Republican leaders”
Hmmm, “House Republican leaders”
Who can that be?

He is the cause of the mass exodus of other republicans because they are frustrated at him for not getting anything done.
“And members who havent seen real competition for years face tough races due to Trumps deep unpopularity.”
BS! Their issue is not Trump, who remains extremely popular out here in flyover country. Their issue is their own betrayal of the their constituents.
Time to dump the whole lot of them and start over.
They realize this damn Trump is going to make it nearly impossible to become a multi millionaire on a congress critter’s salary.
So many of these house losers are traitors to their electorate and traitors to their oath of office that it would be a good time for America if they quit.
The GOP has no idea of how much trouble they are in.
46% I guess is not good.
You Puuuuuurisssst you!
Our libtard republican do-nothing, democrat promoting congress is waaay better than a democrat congress.
I’m pretty sure RINOs and “conservatives” all voted for the Paul Ryan and the rest of the GOP losership. They have no one to blame but themselves.
I think the problem is that the RINOs still have enough votes to control the leadership slots And it seems that they have adopted a do or die approach. They are willing to bring down everything if necessary to prevail.
Boo f***ing hoo.
