. . .
The reaction from hawks and Capitol Hill and elsewhere, however, was decidedly negative.
Thats missing the point, said Center for Immigration Studies Executive Director Mark Krikorian on border demands. Thats always been my fear, that Trump would give away DACA for a fig leaf.
Krikorian said legal immigration restrictions are needed to mitigate the effects of amnesty. For instance, he said, if the United States does not restrict family-sponsored immigration, the DACA recipients will be able to sponsor their foreign relatives for residency including, potentially, their parents, who brought them illegally in the first place.
Amnesty opponents have hurled plenty of invective at Trump in the last 12 hours, but Krikorians might be the most stinging tying him to 2016 GOP primary rival Jeb Bush.
The president is letting the Democrats set the terms of the discussion
This is pure Jebism, he said.

Trump voters. Trump has a soft spot for these dreamers or he would have revoked daca on day one, JUST LIKE HE PROMISED. If he approves amnesty he is done. His base stays home. The House is lost. His presidency is OVER. Period. Only people wishful thinking like at Conservative Treehouse think this is a Trumpian brilliant plot to outfox his adversaries.
Absolutely. Laura is one of the most sound and reasonable people. If you lose Ingraham, you’ve plain lost.
:) Affirmative.
Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, Drudge, Breitbart, and other supporters have dumped all over him. And rightly so.
Some people, OTOH, are not surprised at all.
Lou Dobbs also dumping on him when you lose Dobbs, a fierce supporter, you are in trouble!!!!
He already removed Obama’s executive order, he did what he was supposed to do.
It is going to be very difficult for the Democrats to continue to try to marginalize Trump if they are making deals with him.
In the 1980's the Dems controlled both houses. This is not the case now.
The Democrats are controlling the agenda because the GOP is too scared to support Trump.
Also, in 1980 I believe the GOP controlled the Senate.
But they at least wouldn’t legislate DACA for him—which is why he did it thru legislative action.
This is why it would be nice if Trump had coherent positions and, like, a history.
I honestly don’t know if he even knows what he’s trying to achieve here.
He sort of removed it. He essentially tabled it for six months and then will revisit if he’s not given a bill...or something.
I don’t even know, man.
Amnesty now. Continuous high immigration now.
Enforcement later. Immigration reduction never.
The same old RINO plan that will eventually end our homeland.
Have you been asleep the past ... 10 days or so? How ... how how are you not aware of the DACA news? Trump has all but “officially” done a 180 on DACA — one of his biggest campaign promises. He’s worked out an amnesty deal w/ the Dems. Again. But, of course, he’s gonna say he didn’t (even tho the whole world, including all his aides and allies will say otherwise) ... and you’ll choose to believe and obey his commands to just call everyone in the world FAKE NEWS or LIAR!
If Congress wants to pass a new law, they can do so, but it isn't going to be done by executive order.
Build the wall. Not virtually. Not partially. Physical. Real. Now. No excuses.
I saw that.
