He had essentially asked Congress to codify DACA when he cancelled Hussein’s executive order establishing it.

I disagree. You may have heard him "ask" congress to codify DACA. I heard him put the ball in the Congress's court where it belongs. Its on them now. Congress should be the ones getting heat for amnesty/no amnesty. Trump is now going to follow the law, granted he gave congress 6 months to take, or fail to take, action. Have you seen congress come forward with a bill yet? They are afraid to do so, like they are afraid to do anything else other than kick the can and point to someone else. I would not be surprised at all if 6 months from now there is still no DACA bill that can pass both Houses and Trump lets it expire. That will be another WIN.

His pledge that if Congress doesn’t act, he’ll look at it again in six months is an ask. He’s essentially saying, “Codify this in the law, or I may renew Obama’s policy.”
