Report: Trump Caves on DACA, Wants ‘Quick’ Amnesty for 800K Illegal Aliens
Breitbart.com ^ | 13 Sep 2017 | John Binder

Posted on 09/14/2017 6:00:33 AM PDT by Rockitz

In a meeting with establishment politicians from the Problem Solvers Caucus and the Blue Dog Coalition, President Trump signaled a full-fledged cave on the issue of giving amnesty to nearly 800,000 illegal aliens currently protected by an Obama-created executive immigration program.

Since Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the ultimate end to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, under which hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens were given work permits and temporary protected status, Trump has remained unclear on whether he would stick to his anti-amnesty campaign promises or cave to the political establishment.

At his White House meeting with moderates, according to The Hill, Trump is set to choose a legislative deal that quickly legalizes the nearly 800,000 illegal aliens on DACA, without getting any pro-American immigration reforms in return:

Indeed, said Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), the president is already getting impatient.

“He says, ‘Oh, DACA, we want to move on this quick, we don’t want to wait six months,’” Cuellar said after the meeting. “He said, ‘It’s already been six days and nothing’s happened.’”

Cuellar said Trump didn’t propose a timeline, but voiced concerns that waiting until the March 5 deadline grows closer would only put a spotlight on the issue and make it more difficult for Congress to act. The president, Cuellar said, wants to move “when people are not expecting it.”

...

Although Trump is looking at pushing through a clean amnesty bill for DACA recipients, he did mention during the meeting, according to Cuellar, the possibility of passing Sen. Tom Cotton’s (R-AR) pro-American worker “RAISE Act,” which cuts legal immigration in half, in exchange for amnesty.

"This takes time to do right. Not gonna just slap up wall."

I don't know about that. The East Germans threw one up overnight. Maybe we should hire those guys.

I didn’t imply otherwise. But that is clearly not what is going to happen.

Just out of curiosity... you think the Veterans should go as well? No exception for them?

The reason Trump's (our) agenda isn't being implemented is because CONGRESS is subverting it, not funding it, slow walking it and actively blocking it.

According to Henry Cuellar (D-Texas). There was a time on FR when people knew better than to trust the spew of 'rats or their media colluders.

The 1986 amnesty bill was signed by Reagan after years of relentless lobbying from Republican asshole senator Alan Simpson of Wyoming, a Washington RINO and Cheyenne conservative. Reagan said at one time, he signed the damn bill just to get Simpson to shut up. And yes he was back stabbed because the bill promised border security to stanch the flow of illegals, but which never happened.

As I have said many a time, if all the immigrants would agree to vote the Democrats/Liberals out of office, I would personally place a Welcome Mat on the Rio Grande.

There are currently less than 900 (DACA) people in the military. Others have applied and they will bring the count up to around 900. The others should be prevented from joining.

I’m not interested in breaking any “deals” we may have made with them. If they were promised a transition after their service, I won’t want to go back on that.

Just because people serve in the military, it doesn’t mean they served under fire. If they didn’t serve in the theater of war, I’m not so convinced they should stay.

I am curious though, what is this driving force behind your efforts here? How come you’re more concerned about these people than you are the folks whose jobs they are taking?

We helped them. It’s time for them to go.

Just because you let some homeless guy sleep on the couch for three nights, it doesn’t mean he now has permanent membership in the family.

I am. If you volunteer to serve in the US military during time of war, then you are volunteering to go “under fire”, whether you actually go under fire or not.

So, if a young man was brought to this country as an infant, illegally, followed all other rules, joined the military, and honorably served, you are of the opinion that person should be kicked out of the country once his tenure of service is up. Or should we wait that long? Should he be pulled out of his unit, even if he serving in theater, and kicked out of the country immediately? I just want to understand your position.

And please don’t question my motives. These are all legitimate questions. And I’m curious as to your opinion.

There are only 800 “Dreamers” out of 900,000 that have been in or are currently in the military. Statistically zero.

And those are the 800 I’m talking about. I’m still waiting to hear opinions on what should be done with that group of people.

I am. If you volunteer to serve in the US military during time of war, then you are volunteering to go "under fire", whether you actually go under fire or not.

If you're a citizen, then I don't have a problem with that description. If you're an illegal alien, I'm not willing to extend the same courtesy. If a DACA person does serve a tour in the theater of battle, I would consider it worthy of consideration along these lines.

We have operations in Afghanistan right now. If a DACA candidate is serving in the Navy in the Pacific they are not under fire.

You have focused on two splinter groups of the 800,000 in a desperate attempt to justify the DACA people staying here.

Less than 1/800th of these people are in the military. We have no idea what the numbers are when it comes to "infants vs ten year olds".

They were brought here illegally. The are not U.S. Citizens. We gave them food and shelter, clothed them and educated them on our dime. Now you want to give them citizenship (or at least let them stay) as well. I don't.

Every time we "legalize" one more of them, the word goes out and others get the idea they too can game the system too. What part of that escapes you. Wave after wave come for one reason. They think they can game the system.

And please don’t question my motives. These are all legitimate questions. And I’m curious as to your opinion.

So asking what your motives are, is not a legitimate question? You're the only one who gets to cross examine?

Do you have any idea why I am questioning your motives? I'll bet you don't.

You see, every time we address the border, the wall, things like DACA, we get people asking the same probing questions that amount to folks thinking it's wrong to deport illegal aliens.

That's ultimately why we have in the neighborhood of 30 million illegals in country. It's why we have so many foreign national gangs. It's why our prisons, some of them have very large populaces of criminal illegal aliens in them.

It's why we have dead people, at the hands of these people. It's why we have raped woman and sexually assaulted little kids at the hands of these people.

Not every kid who is a member of DACA is the pristine person the media has made them out to be.

It's time to send them home.

It’s not important. The “normal” immigration system gives a lot of points for military service. They could all probably get green cards without the stupid “Dreamer” act. I think every dispersing clerk in the US Navy is a native born Filipino. They all get green cards when their time is up.

I’m going to be very blunt here, and you’re going to be offended, but I’ll take it for granted you’re not a snowflake and can handle it.

You sat on your ass and weren’t willing to put your life on the line as a member of the military. U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jose Gutierrez from Guatemala (here illegally) was killed in a tank battle in Iraq. (He’s a real guy; look him up). Yet, by your reckoning, had Lance Cpl. Gutierrez returned, even wounded, he should be expelled from the country.

Am I talking about a tiny segment of the population? Yes. But my problem is with absolutist (kick them all out!) positions that don’t take into consideration logic and reason. What if a “Dreamer” (I hate that term) is a Doctor? Or a business owner?

Also, you make the statement that “we gave them food, and shelter, etc. etc.” How do you know? Your opinion is a leftist, liberal position that all of our material possessions in life are solely based on the largesse of the US Government. No... some people worked hard for what they got, and didn’t take a dime from the government. Did some of the “Dreamers” take money from the government? Absolutely. Maybe most of them. But not all of them.

So whats my point? Rounding up any person who was brought here as a young child and kicking them out without any discernment or judgement just isn’t smart. And I’m sure this will raise a hue and cry in the FreeRepublic, but my President, President Trump, holds the exact same position.

No, you are not paying attention. The current immigration system allows some foreign nationals to serve in the military. many mess specialists and dispersing clerks are foreign nationals in the US Navy. It is very common. Very. This has been going on for about 200 hundred years. After their enlistment is up they get green cards. It has been this way well, forever. There is no need to change any law or change how that is being done. Its a red herring.

That is totally different that the prevailing conventional wisdom (among some) of “kick them all out” regardless of whether they served or not. You are suggesting there IS a path to a green card for some. A small sliver perhaps, but some.
