Why, in Gods good name, should a police officer make four hundred thousand dollars???
In many cities, there are two tiers of workers. Some have caps on their salary, and are not allowed to make more despite how many overtime hours they work; overtime given as compensatory time that they take off elsewhere in the year. But others like cops and firemen don't have caps on their salary, and are paid cash for the overtime; they milk it for all it's worth. Scandalous, yes, and the rules should be changed to put caps on cops and firemen salaries but their unions will block any attempts at capping their salary. Result is bankrupting cities.
All he’s doing is working OT and going to court for every little thing he can. His pension, after they factor in his 3 highest years, will be around $200K or more, on the low end, and up to $300k or more, on the high end, depending on how long he stays on the job.
The cost of living for such executive talent is very high. The property taxes take an enormous chunk of the remuneration. /s
Unions. Been that way forever. Soldiers make enough to qualify for Medicaid. Hey, maybe the dreamers will do it for 300k. Bargain, huh?

That’s substantially more (more than double more) than most doctors in the country. I have great respect for the police, but that salary is ridiculous.

Obviously he works a lot of overtime. Figure out what that is in dollars per hour. His pension will be enormous, even better than odumbo’s.
I don't believe you could pay me enough to be a cop in NYC....
