She was in jail on a matter related to this case...

We had a similar thing happen here in Washington state and - yes - it was proven a hoax, but not until after it destroyed several lives.
“Joined by her 29-year-old brother John Vargas — who was intellectually disabled — Serbu left to pick up Sierra, bringing a pair of guns, two stun guns, a potato to use as a silencer, an ice pick, plastic gloves and paper towels with her.”
They say they found her by her car in the woods. The police brought her in and she confessed to the murder.
Which is it?
Was she arrested on the charge of custodial interference after confessing to murder? Then charged with murder later? How did she leave Florida with her kids after already confessing to the police? Why wasn’t she already in jail? How did her brother get shot if they had both guns? Did investigators question her daughter about the accusation? Why did she have her mentally disabled brother confront the kid? Has anyone else accused the kid of rape? How old was the kid when the alleged rape happened? Why didn’t any of her friends, or family call the police when they learned about the accusation(especially since she told them she was planning on killing Sierra)? What were the circumstances of her relationship to Sierra who she confessed to killing?
It seems to me that there was a lot more going on here. I don’t believe it’s okay to rush to judgement without knowing the facts. She killed someone. She is dangerous. When more information comes out I’ll change my tune. But it does sound like she might be lying about the circumstances and possibly the motive for the murder.
I don’t think any of us know just how much people accused falsely in cases like this have to deal with. It can easily destroy them. My heart goes out to the truly innocent ones.
Imagine the sentiment in the community, people thinking they should take measures into their own hands because the government probably won’t. (They’re thinking)
Comments, insults, banishment, lost friendships, lost jobs, lost family relations...
This is something folks better get right when they charge it.

It’s such a difficult issue. Everyone cares and everyone wants to get it right.

Yep. This thread proves your assessment. Just look at people saying things like “Mother of the year!”
So quick to rush to judgment. Over a second hand accusation. Nothing in the story to indicate that investigators confirmed the story with her daughter at all. There’s so much information missing.
Sad. Prosecutor will pack the jury with ethnic minorities....and MOM WILL BE ACQITTED!
This boy didn’t need to die, if only his family had taught him morals!!!! He’d be alive today.

I’ve seen a number of “mental” women in my time. I certainly have no reason to believe this woman is one of those, but I am very leery of things like this.
When I was in high school, there was a cute young thing across the street. Her mom was just loopy. She came up with something that I can’t remember the details on now, but it caused me to have to withdraw from pursuing the girl who I think wanted a relationship.
It was based on something she was saying I’d done with her daughter if I remember correctly, and I hadn’t done a single thing with her daughter. If our hands every even touched, I don’t recall it.
You’ve got to be careful of situations like this. It can really cost you.
I had tried to involve her in some outings to help her get out of the house. It was that bad. Her mom was still functioning but she wasn’t operating on all cylinders.
I felt sorry for her. She was a sweet young girl though. She was sweet, and I’m sure at some point made some guy very happy.
The daughter told the mother in 2016 that the rape had occurred "several" years ago. The alleged rapist was 18 at the time of death. So, assuming several to mean 3, maybe 4, he was somewhere between 13 or 14.
“Sierra graduated from Lely High School weeks before his death. He had a job interview at a spay-and-neuter clinic in Golden Gate about two hours before he was found in the woods. The teen was passionate about animals and wanted to work with horses.
Vargas was on vacation in Naples as an early birthday celebration and to visit Serbu, one of his sisters. He was killed a month and a half shy of his 30th birthday.
According to a Naples Police Department release, Sierra suffered multiple gunshot wounds after being confronted by Serbu and Vargas. Vargas also was shot [and killed] during the altercation, police said.”
You're right... Judge after judge would have let they monster walk.
