Three Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to a specialized screening team at Newark Airport were arrested Wednesday for assaulting fellow officers, allegedly pinning the victims to what was known as a “rape table,” according to court records.
Tito Catota, Parmenio Perez and Michael Papagni are charged with forcibly assaulting, impeding, intimidating, and interfering with two men identified in court documents as “Victim One” and “Victim Two” while the victims were on duty as CBP officers.

According to court records, the officers locked the victims in a secure room in Newark’s Terminal C and pinned them to a conference table that the CBP officers called their “rape table.” No clothing was removed but court records said the victims were subjected to “grinding” and the simulation of a sex act.

Police culture, military culture (any “guy culture” really) is full of crass jokes, practical jokes, horsing around...But from the sounds of things, in this case it went well beyond all that.

They had a slangy “rape table” —big deal. NO ONE got raped.
They were colleagues, and someone “grinded” against another at some point; again, BIG DEAL.
It sounds a LOT like someone didn’t get a promotion, or got busted for being late or something, and then PRESTO!
They trundled out this memory to punish the other person.
When the person CRYING about this is a freeper claiming they were once in the Marine Corps, well, you got a huge problem.

I think gaijin has the correct understanding of this. It appears to be hazing, and possibly this is something that was tolerated on for a long time. In any case, it has an “ick” factor to it, and someone should have stopped it a long time ago.

So you are ok with forcibly restraining people and pulling weapons on co-workers.
And I am mostly pro-cop. They need to be arrested, removed from authority. If they will do this to their co-workers, what will they do to everyone else?

I don’t think it has anything to do with them being government workers. I’ve worked in both the public and private sectors, blue collar and white collar, I’ve seen frats in action, I’ve known people from all walks of life — ain’t nobody is too different when it comes down to it. There’s messed up people everywhere.
