He’s the boss, but he has allowed the enemy to remove multiple right wing patriots, while surrounding himself with people like McMaster.

If you go by what he has said, he (and the U.S.) is Israel’s best friend. That does not seem to square with being happy with McMasters.
I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat my opinion below, FWIW:
The real powers that run our world sat Trump down and very clearly told him what they would permit him to do and what would not be permitted.
They gave him a certain latitude with regard to economics, trade deals, routing out violent gangs, etc. The non-negotiables were clearly delineated, under threat of Trump familial harm.
Their people are now firmly in place and run the White House. IMO, it is as simple as that.
This was the problem with Reagan too even in the Defense Department. Reagan selected Caspar Weinberger as the Secretary of Defense. Weinberger insisted on Frank Carlucci as his deputy. Carlucci appointed radical Reagan-hating feminists in the Pentagon. Many of us were bewildered by this at the time.
