Newsmax' John Gizzi pressed White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders on whether President Trump will support conservative primary challengers to centrist or liberal Republicans.
Trump has routinely denounced moderates and left-leaning Republicans, calling Arizona's Sen. Jeff Flake "Flake Jeff Flake" and nudging Nevada's Dean Heller during a White House meeting, asking whether the first-term senator wants to "remain a senator." Gizzi pointed to Flake and Heller, asking Sanders about their "spirited primary challenges." Flake faces tea party conservative Dr. Kelli Ward - who unsuccessfully primaried Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) last year - in 2018.
He also asked about the most recent incident involving a pro-Trump candidate challenging a longtime establishment Republican legislator.
"Justin Simmons, a strong supporter of the president in Pennsylvania, declared his candidacy against Charlie Dent, who [then] announced his retirement on Friday," Gizzi said.

He should endorse an entire slate of candidates to primary RINOs.
If he doesn’t, then he was lying on the campaign trail about fixing things.
We need new Republicans.
The ones we have represent illegal aliens and their employers, not the citizens and the rule of law.
Alexander, Corker, Flake, Graham, Hatch, Heller, Hoeven, Murkowsky, McCain, Rubio, Gardner, Burr, Tillis, Portman, McConnell, Thune, Cornyn, Cochran, Isackson, Blunt, Johnson, Toomey, Capito, Rounds, Fischer, Collins, Wicker, Sasse, Ernst, Young, Boozman and Shelby are all undocumented Democrats in R jerseys
The Amnesty Senators must be first to go.
Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake in 2018.
In my humble opinion, a critical characteristic of “conservative” for purposes of this, is:
Do they support American jobs?
We’ve had far, far too many recently who have supported foreign jobs.
We need an entire party, dedicated to American jobs. It would win, every single election.
Better to just take over the GOP and let the RINOs form their own party.
Now challengers will think they are in the cat bird seat. This is how we wound up with tea party candidates like Nikki Haley, Rubio and Ted Cruz.
“Do they support American jobs?”
And if they don’t, what are you going to do about it? Stay home? Vote Dim?
Trump was the first step.
It was certainly a step in the right direction.
Republicans need to start supporting American jobs.
All of them. Every election. We need to be the party of working Americans.
Gizzi. Big state conservative.
Trump should be out in the open about this and aggressively recruit primary candidates who will work with him. Once one or two RINOs are knocked off many will have a “come to Jesus” moment with Trump. I saw a Rasmussen poll that stated 72% of Republicans supported Trump reaching out to rats to accomplish the agenda he ran on. I have no problem with this. This should make pubbies and rats alike take pause. Its been sold to us that Washington politics is a zero sum game , any gain to one wing of the uniparty is an automatic loss to the other wing. Trump has introduced a new player to the game, the American tax payer. Trump has shown that he couldn’t care less about the trditional Washington political game. With a few breaks Trump might pull this off.
Moving left and dealing with Democrats is not the answer. The only thing that may work is supporting primary challengers against RINOs.
Drain the Swamp....wonder why Mooch Mitch hates this?
Trust me...Con Corker is out in TN and so is Lying Lamar...
He damn tootin’ he should back candidates who run against the never Trumper’s and RINO’s in the Rebub. party
I hope so, TN shares the shame with AZ as having both Senators vote for Rubio’s amnesty.
The only answer anyone deserves is “we’re open to the possibility of mounting primary challenges to all who have opposed the Trump administration, regardless of political affiliation.”
Haley and Rubio were frauds.
Sometimes it will be necessary to vote Democrat to oust entrenched RINOs like Ryan.
[Moving left and dealing with Democrats is not the answer.]
No, but it shows Trump isn’t eager to work with the RINOs in the R leadership. This send a strong signal that he would support primary challengers, even if not verbally or publically.
