They Stink

Cultural institutions dominated by the Left seem to be populated by the unqualified and incompetent.

Here’s something you probably already know but may not have noticed: in any institution which has been taken over by the more egalitarian/iconoclastic/redistributionist elements of our society, which at this point generally includes nearly every one of the industries which control American culture, a very wide space is made for the inclusion of people who are manifestly, unquestionably and ridiculously unfit to contribute at the level they are appointed for.

This is a phenomenon not exclusive to the Left, mind you. Before cultural institutions like Hollywood, academia, literature, fashion, the arts, the news media and the recording industry became platforms for dissemination of radical culture, there were lots of incompetents who found jobs within those industries. Nepotism and the Old Boys’ Club made for a friendly enough environment for those a true meritocracy would condemn.

But those institutions used to be driven by the pursuit of excellence. The culture they built, which was the most successful and attractive in the history of the world, a culture which in large measure won the Cold War, accomplished what it accomplished because it offered the world truth, beauty, kindness, and freedom. It wasn’t necessary for everyone associated with the country’s cultural elite to be excellent to successfully present those values, but there were only so many walking embarrassments who could be tolerated for only so long before something had to be done about them.

Those were the days. They’re long gone now, it seems.

Ayn Rand described this process in detail in her novels.

The Peter principle is a concept in management theory formulated by educator Laurence J. Peter and published in 1969. It states that the selection of a candidate for a position is based on the candidate’s performance in their current role, rather than on abilities relevant to the intended role. Thus, employees only stop being promoted once they can no longer perform effectively, and “managers rise to the level of their incompetence.”

In college back in the late 1970s I caught on very quickly that the “redistribution of wealth” and “workers control the means of production” was about people who were not competent enough economically to operate the levers of the economy wanted to seize them politically. It was obvious that they had no competence, or else they would not have been social sciences faculty who never spent a day in their adult lives outside of the university. It was also obvious they would wreck anything they got their hands on.

Yes. I’ve noticed the later chapters in the book really are coming true. And I crack up at all the Dagney Taggerts out there that think we just need to work within the new rules and that’s just business.

In many real ways I’ve gong Galt. Starve the beast.

“managers rise to the level of their incompetence.”...

Not to mention that we have to vote for individuals who seek political office, most of which couldn't lead a dog on a leash. The federal buroceaucies are full of such types, including senators and congress critters.

There’s a bit more to it than that. The left can be credited with their great skill in taking over and subverting organizations. It happens across the board, from foundations, charities, governmental boards and agencies, even religions.

However, the singular purpose of leftists in doing so is to supersede and supplant the *purpose* of the organization and replace it with solely the leftist agenda. With the grotesqueness of the tongue-eating louse that infests fish.

This leaves gaping holes in society, where once useful and productive, creative, or helpful organizations become just parasites, whose purpose is now to *prevent* other organizations from filling the gaps, by siphoning resources away from them.

Only in recent years, in particular, in religions, has the left so strongly perverted the paths of faith, that the result has been schism within these religions. The conservatives who long supported the faith refuse to give to the leftist agenda, so break off to maintain their spiritual values; something bitterly hated and fought by the leftist side, whose followers give little, and never did embrace its faith.

In the medium to long term, this means that the leftist side of the religion will wither, its financial bankruptcy paralleling its spiritual bankruptcy.

Of the dozens of foundations created by conservative business-people and their families, they are a particularly attractive target of leftist infiltration. Leftists who permanently divert all their resources to supporting the agenda.

Even federal and state government agencies are not immune to such corruption. It was very glaring during the Clinton and Obama years, where a systematic, White House effort was made to subvert every government agency to leftist causes.

Even the Pentagon was recreated in the image of their agenda, with utter indifference to the importance of their military mission; instead being seen as having little use other than for social engineering experiments on a captive audience.

Yet back to the original article, the question becomes “Why populate a subverted organization with the incompetent?”

The answer is simple, because they see the purpose of the organization, even the government, as *unimportant*, compared to its being controlled by the left and used for its purposes.

So it becomes nothing more than a tool to reward its friends and punish its enemies. The hallmark of the left, reflecting its organization, more like an organized crime mafia than anything else.

Many are already at their level of incompetence on day one walking in the door. Parasites one and all. That’s what lives in the swap.

Perceived self interest is the most fundamental driver of human action and every human uses whatever tool they have at their disposal to advance it.

The talented and competent have an easier time of promoting their own interests. However, the lazy and the untalented have discovered (rediscovered?) a tool that is very effective at neutralizing much of the natural advantage of the talented and competent.

It’s called egalitarianism. The overall strategy is to compel the talented to cripple his innate talents to that of the lowest common denominator, thus giving the naturally untalented a better opportunity to advance his interests. This strategy is achieved by the use of outright physical force, social pressure, and personal guilting and shaming by elevating equality to the highest moral standard.

This is exactly what’s going on today. This spells disaster for any society that allows it to go on.

The talented and the competent must forcefully reclaim their naturally deserving proper status and destroy the scourge of egalitarianism if they and the best society in human history are to survive.

They are fine examples of the Peter Principle only they are operating at 2 0r 3 levels above their competence.
