Making sex acts forbidden doesn’t cut down on them. The urge for sex is stronger than the urge for chocolate cake. Humans will always have problems resisting temptation. I don’t know exactly what making gay sex or sex outside marriage illegal would even do.

Agree... And this is why even in the strict Mosaic Law it took 2 witnesses or more to bring down sanctions. God Himself knew the closet would exist, and the Law’s concern was to put a robust firewall between that and society.

It would, for one, spare us this homosexual “marraige” nonsense and all the related crap that descents from it.

That alone would be a benefit.

Moreover, that something is actually not approved of at least sets the tone of the conversation away from licentiousness. There is something to be said about a society that at least makes a pretense of valuing virtue rather than one whose attitude is “oh hell yes!” when it comes to engaging in wickedness.
