Same in SW Orlando, power went out 20 minutes ago, still out, working off of laptop batteries and a UPS for the modem/router. Will probably drop off in a bit.
Still up out here and Praying for those still in the path who knows what she will do, Harvey hung around and kept pounding them.
My sister in law lives just below the ‘p’ in Tampa!
I think they may have managed to dodge the worst of it.
Where is it now
I’m not, I promise it.
It’s a free app. Nothing to sale.
And attics can be deathtraps for flooding and storm surges if one does not go up there with a sledge hammer and a saw to cut through the roof.
Or install openable skylights or vents before the issue ever arises. Don’t need to desperately bash your roof open with a sledge or axe if you can just slide a bolt and open the skylight.

There are some really fancy ones now: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/b2/26/1e/b2261e68121a6a34398d1372d2724053—window-company-window-types.jpg
Eye wall came closer to Melbourne tonight than thought earlier today. As a result very strong winds and gusts for hours. Starting to slow down now but still getting gusts. Will be going to bed as soon as I feel comfortable that windows won't be blown in :-)
One thing bad about quakes, generally there is no warning whatsoever.
It's why I like radio, no need to rely on anyone, it never seems to fail.☺ In major events, not everyone are going to have utility workers show up and fix the problem in 8 hours. To get reliability it should involve solar panels and storage batteries to power several radios. Good 100 watt panel are down to about 120 bucks or so. Off the grid, very independent. Pretty cheap way to have reliable communications for many years in the event of a large scale event or even a wide scale grid failure etc. Some people won't go to the trouble, and that's ok. I just like being independent.
Lights out hours ago. We’re all good. Godspeed to you and yours. Remarkably quieter now.
Thank you.
Power out near NAS in Jacksonville. About a hour ago.
First thing you know about storm surge or flood when you’re in an underground shelter - when the water starts pouring in. And then it’s often too late.
Ah good to hear! Everyone was worried about you.
Thank God! Many of us were worried about you...
I also had a First Phone, so I could work as Peter The Meter Reader on the overnight shift at a local radio station. Went to a test prep school that taught the test.
Haven’t done a think with my General since I got it. All us kids hung out with Max Robinson, K4ODS, in the early 60s, and that’s where we got our theory basics that served me well 50 years later when I took the General test.
73s.
Looks like Tampa is pretty much in the clear now when looking at the loop gif I posted in #558
The roof that just went by says the NHC track was off.
:)
