From what I heard yesterday, the higher you are, the windier it is so even though I doubt a building would be blown over it would still be pretty darn scary being on the 14th floor

Thanks Sarah........yeah, I admit it would be scary. But if you just lay low, maybe grab some cheetos, and a radio, ....should be ok. No high rise ever got blown over. Not to my knowledge. Thanks.

Windows get blown out. Somewhere today I saw a picture from a previous storm of a highrise with nearly every window blown.

IMO, the wind would be less of a danger than the storm surge battering at the foundation.

I would less expect it to topple from being blown over as opposed to collapsing from the foundations being destroyed.

I would NOT stay in a high rise during a hurricane, ESPECIALLY if I was within the storm surge forecast area.

BTW, yes the wind speed does increase with height.

A great deal and very quickly.

Which is why when you are flying a kite, you can get it to stay up fairly easily once you get it high enough.
