The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

Agree 100%
A lot can happen before it gets far north as Atlanta.
The Florida Keys look like they will be in trouble. Hopefully the residents and tourists are out.
The bridges to the Keys are so slim and long. Can you imagine being stuck in a car on those bridges when the hurricane comes?
The big story is if it slams into Havana and they weren’t prepared for it.
Sure is. And it isn’t helpful to those of us who have friends, loved ones and property there. We are worried enough.
In the last hour it’s stayed at 23.4N while moving from 80.5W to 80.8W.
It’s well west of the point where everyone said it would turn north.
The weatherheads seem to be ignoring that for now.

It could have used a little more Sean Young, but yeah.
Bullet proof

What is the name of her restaurant? I may have been there, or will go this winter. We love the drive to Anna Maria.
You beat me to the post. It’s gusty here. Nobody wants to be on the Skyway Bridge when it is very gusty.
Indeed they do. Uncommon to end up on a road, however.
I notice TWC hasn’t talked about any steering pressure systems to support their assertion for a northerly turn. The reason I like Bastardi.
Just so everyone knows, the skyway bridge is frequently closed due to high winds (and jumpers).
My Father in law insisted on staying at his place in Sun City. I asked him to fly up here 3 days ago. He knew better.
I’m sure he’ll be OK. His “roofmate” has a generator - and they’re now contemplating going to a shelter.
I still think this thing may head further west than they’re predicting. Hasn’t turned yet.
I forgot to add - we love “Pancake Beach”!
Can’t beat breakfast on the beach!
Thanks for your posts as always.
Looks like that feed may be dead ?
That is what Joe Bastardi said a few days ago about Jose. Then the question becomes where does it go? Nobody knows at this point.
