The entire Florida Peninsula and points north are poised to experience Hurricane Irma after the storm hugged Cuba's northern coastline. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Hurricane Irma's prolonged interaction with Cuba diminished its strength to Category 3.
Irma is forecast to increase in strength as it crosses the FL Straits. The Florida Keys experienced strong outer bands while Irma grazed the N Cuba coastline.

Ok thanks very much.
We Hear You...
Prayers for You and Yours.
Stay Strong in the Lord,
He is our Refuge.
I keep hearing the name sugarloaf in this thread and I keep thinking of the song Green Eyed Lady by Sugarloaf. Irma is a green eyed lady!
My wife and I were on Sugarloaf Key(17 miles from Key West) for Wilma - the northern approach to the 7 mile bridge had to be repaired due to the storm surge. We had 6 feet of water under the house with needle fish swimming in the front yard! I used a lot of clorox after that hurricane.
Yes, that post was music to my ears.
No, I was just commenting/smiling re ‘moms’ .. I’ve driven thru CT several times, but am in northcentral PA.
That’s exactly what I thought when I saw that.
I can’t swim either.
I grew up in Newington, Ct - now in TN just north of Huntsville over the border. We may get a tropical storm Irma out of this......
Jawdropping. Odds?
Please do.
Thank you.
Brevard just received a tornado warning
Throw it in their pool.
Know that there are lots of people praying for out out there.

...IRMA MAKES LANDFALL AT CUDJOE KEY IN LOWER FLORIDA KEYS...
The center of Hurricane Irma made landfall at Cudjoe Key in the
lower Florida Keys at 9:10 am EDT. A gust to 106 mph (171 km/h)
was just reported at the National Key Deer Refuge in Big Pine Key.
What’s the situation on Anna Maria Island? Any idea?
I keep hearing about Naples, and then Tampa Bay but they gloss right over Sarasota/Bradenton. Are they implying Sarasota/Bradenton will be spared?
The comments were priceless!
Far better entertainment than Netflix!
I haven’t seen much on Marco/Ft. Meyers either.
Ron White...
They evacuated everybody from the (Florida) Keys and everybody leaves except for one guy whos gonna stay there and tie himself to a tree on the beach, to prove a point; and the point was, he said, that at 53 years of age, he was in good enough physical condition to withstand the wind and the rain of a force 3 hurricane. OK, let me explain something to ya: it isnt that the wind is blowin. Its what the wind is blowin. If you get hit with a Volvo, it doesnt really matter how many sit-ups you did that morning.
