Other posters need to understand, all your personal information is held by at least three credit monitoring agencies. It doesn't matter if you sign up or not.
If you have a drivers license, bank, credit card, loan and/or investment accounts, they have all your info. If you have ever taken out a mortgage, they have your info. You don't have to give the information to them. Those that you do business with do and now they do it in real time.
The IRS is another wonderful mess. In the past I had additional SS payments during a two year period. They would not explain it or correct it. Local tax agencies have that information when they reconcile accounts for audits. It is really fun to be forced into a situation where you have to prove a negative.
This is one big hot mess.
