We have had several here. 20 years ago it was an annual thing, “Would the hurricane hit us?” We had one, Isabel, IIRC in 2003 that was a pretty good one. 2 days of howling winds building to 75 mph, thank God no damage, eye hits, go outside, relax, then in an hour the wind starts up again. 2 more days of wind howling. No power for two weeks. Days of work with chain saw to get out of street. Need to get out for gas for generator. No AC. Everyone rank from chainsawing and no AC. Not fun. No party.
Lived through Hurricane Mathews just a year ago. Lost power for a day, lots of trees down, Our town was closed for a few days, but we were in no danger of drowning on the 3rd floor condo. This time we are better prepared, enough water and food for 2 weeks without needing electricity.
