Ivanka teams with Norquist to boost tax-reform efforts
Washingron Times ^ | 9-6-17 | David Sherfinski

Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter and a top adviser, jumped into the administration’s tax reform push on Wednesday, joining conservatives to promote an expansion of the child tax credit and later appearing onstage with her father at an event in North Dakota.

Ms. Trump told conservative leaders that the administration is pushing for “the largest child tax credit possible,” potentially doubling it to $2,000 per child, and said she wants to make it refundable against payroll taxes so that lower-income people who pay little or no federal income tax would still benefit.

She’s not like Patti and Ron Reagan who had open contempt for their father: she is just prodding Donald Trump to the “New York values,” as TCruz called them.

Where’s the “Oh, sh!t” guy?

The ‘flat tax’, like the income tax:
- Doesn’t have a 100% coverage
- Still illegal/unconstitutional (4th, 5th, 13th)
- Still involuntary
- Requires a huge bureaucracy
- Centralizes control of information on Citizens

Aside from those, what’s NOT to love, right!? /s

REDUCE govt to its rightful size THEN
- Eliminate 16th & IRS
- Implement national sales tax (no exemptions) upon any/all initial purchases
- Seller > State > Fed

Does away w/ every CON atop. ONLY when everyone has ‘skin in the game’ will govt be told to FARK off. Get govt out of the social engineering\picking winners-losers biz (by carrot of tax $$).

refundable against payroll taxes so that lower-income people who pay little or no federal income tax

This is a complicated, fraud prone way to do something that could be done quite simply.

Currently we penalize the working poor for working and reward the non-working poor for gaming the system.

It would be much more efficient to just eliminate the payroll tax for the working poor. At the same time tighten who qualifies for welfare (Foodstamps, Medicaid, TANF, WIC, etc).

EITC-Earned Income Tax Credit has proven to be fraud prone. It is Milton Friendman's biggest mistake. Con-men posing as tax preparers pay the poor 10 cents on the EITC dollar with 90 cents going to the tax preparer.

Plus there are tax preparers who create fictitious working poor.

Eliminate EITC. Eliminate taxes on the working poor. Eliminate much of welfare.

...the administration is pushing for “the largest child tax credit possible,”....

My tax guy at H&R Block has told us many times about how different people will bring in the kids to use as a tax credit. He says there is nothing they can do about it. What?

The whole system needs to be scrapped....

It’s funny seeing a story like this and covering the name of the administration,it would sound like a Democrat Presidency. Javanka really irks me.

I have a copy of the 1956 1040A income tax instructions. It's one 11X8 page front and back with 2/3ds of the back page being illustrations of the single IBM card that was the actual 1040A form.

Here is a listing of allowable dependents that can be deducted.

Child, Stepchild, Mother, Father, Grandparent, Brother, Sister, Grandchild, Stepbrother, Stepsister, Stepmother, Stepfather, Mother-in-law, Father-in -law, Brother-in-law, Sister-in-law, Son-in-law, Daughter-in-law.

The following if related by blood.

Uncle, Aunt, Nephew, Niece.

Back then the Government wanted families to stick together.
