Hillary Clinton--being a Wellesley and Yale graduate--clearly lives the life and has the views of a coastal elite. No wonder why most of her voter base in 2016 were in very blue areas. That's why she highly resents her loss to Donald Trump, who by all measures should have enjoyed similar views to her but he embraced the views of Middle America to victory.

Something else to consider was that Hillary Clinton's career path as a presidential candidate was a huge impediment for her.

1. In 2008 she ran as a "working-class white" candidate, winning primaries and caucuses in Republican and swing states. She alienated a hell of a lot of far-left voters and minorities in the process. This is a big reason why she faced a serious primary challenge from Bernie Sanders in 2016.

2. In 2016 she had to reinvent herself in order to get those minority voters back on her side. So her former white working-class base became "a basket of deplorables," and her 2016 campaign was a pathetic charade of a 70 year-old white woman trying to be young, hip and black. All she was missing was the "F#%& The Police!" T-shirt, the gold teeth, and the dreadlocks.
