As we get ready to find out exactly what the Trump administration has planned for DACA were hearing the president will kick the can down the road for 6 months heres a great thread to read from lawyer Eric Columbus who worked for team Obama on DACA. Its long, but the money quote comes in No. 7 where he admits that a court challenge to DACA is very likely to succeed. Which, of course, means DACA is probably unconstitutional and that this fight was coming no matter who was president.
Also read from 27 on down where Columbus explains what the states who want to sue to end DACA are actually asking for. In short, its not mass deportations.
"THREAD: As a lawyer who worked for Obama on DACA issues, Id like to explain whats on Trumps plate, how it got there, and what may happen. "

One essential problem of DECA was that it was age discrimination. If this had ever gone the full route, and passed by Congress (on any of the seven or eight occasions that it came up)...it would have been dragged into the Supreme Court and knocked down for age issues.
So he knowingly worked to undermine the law. Shouldn't he be disbarred?
deferred.
The time for action will be put off for a time, not forever.
That time is now and I hope President Trump says so.
Laws mean nothing to the Leftists.
That’s a detail of a detail. King Obama was both making new law and also refusing to faithfully execute the law of the land, both crimes against the Constitution.
In other words, without the president’s intervention, the states that are suing the government over Obama’s illegal DACA order would have won in court, and it would have been dead. Now, with the six months grace period granted by the president, there is a chance that enough pressure can be brought on the GOPe members of Congress that they, along with all congressional Democrats, will give amnesty to this group of illegal aliens. This was not what candidate Trump promised his base.
Instead of sobbing over all the scholars and social workers in the DACA group, has anyone counted the number of DACA illegals in our prisons? The latter have exacted an enormous cost on US taxpayers as they have robbed, raped and murdered thousands of our citizens.
I don’t think Trump is just kicking the can down the road. I think he has handed the Congress its a— on a plate.
He is giving them six months to take action on this issue of illegal immigrants that they did not have the courage to face under Obama. The Republicans want to grant amnesty for their Chamber of Commerce and big money donors, but they fear the backlash from citizen voters. Obama illegally granted executive amnesty, and that let Congress look the other way.
So now what happens if the Repubbies and Dims pass a bill to grant amnesty in six months or less? Isn’t the first question for Trump to ask, “Why can’t you work this fast for American citizens, the legal voters who elected you? Why can’t you pass a healthcare bill, or a budget, or tax reform, or authorize a border wall or even funds for new ICE officers?
How does Congress answer that?
This is why a GUEST WORKER program is desperately needed.
We could end all programs right now, and then what do we have? Millions of illegals left that we dont know what to do wit, OR even know who they are.
We need to find and document all of them, so how?
Start a guest worker program. ALL illegals are required to sign up. Any illegal found not signed up after a period of time is immediately deported.
Then any illegal found working anywhere without a guest worker permit results in deportation for the illegal AND JAIL TiME FOR THE EMPLOYER.
Anyone who has a guest worker visa who tries to vote or actually votes is jailed and then deported and permanently banned from obtaining a guest worker visa again.
DACA was always illegal and unconstitutional, but then again so was the Kenyanesian Usurper who did it......
Yes! That is the next step. He can legitimately accuse Congress of shirking its responsibility to voters, but taking verifiable action to benefit people who are NOT citizens.
DACA is Caca!! DACA es Obama’s Caca!!
Obama had 1, and only 1, way to accomplish what he wanted.
Pardon. Every President has vast powers to Pardon. But Obama did not want to even admit that these people had done something illegal, even if too young at the time to have intentionality.
A Pardon would have ended the debate right there. But Obama did not want to end the debate. The role of an oganizer is to create the next organizing issue out of the current victory.
Every Organizer knows that people get much angrier when something they already have is about to be taken away from them than when something is taken away from them that they never had. Angry people are easier to organize.
“I dont think Trump is just kicking the can down the road. I think he has handed the Congress its a on a plate.”
“He is giving them six months to take action on this issue of illegal immigrants that they did not have the courage to face under Obama.”
I agree!
POTUS DJT is no pu%&!
He wants action.
#MAGA NOW!!
He knows it needs to be now. On everything. Many of the cleanup that POTUS DJT knows that America needs will take years to have an effect.
So POTUS DJT knows that action has to happen NOW!
And he is willing to call out the snowflake Congress.
Paul Ryan snowflake do nothing congress coaster.
McConnell snowflake do nothing congress coaster.
Kick their BUTTS HARD!!
Absolutely correct.
