On the other hand, conspiring to stage a crash with fake “protestors” bused in, resulting in a death, is Murder One!

Parking your car in the street in the hopes that someone might run into you so that you can run into the car in front of you and over a pedestrian seems a little far fetched.

It is a little more believable that the driver panicked when he or his car was getting attacked, people surrounded his exit (behind) and so he had no choice but to go forward and into the car in front in hopes of pushing the cars out into the intersection so that he could leave. The protesters might have even been assaulting him through his window with pepper spray or fists.

I strongly doubt that he wished to run over the pedestrians and was probably simply looking for a way to leave the area.
