Lol.
Texas/Trump didn’t have a thoroughly incompetent governor and mayor of one of their largest cities to contend with. Add in that Bush was a lightweight with regard to fighting back at the media narrative.
The lesson of Karina is, if you are a Republican, get out in front of the story. Do not allow the media dictate the narrative.
It is telling the best they (the MSM) could do was be critical of the first ladies shoes.
#1 Lesson from Katrina:
The media will never let a crisis go to waste.
They will spin and misrepresent every crisis in order to damage a republican president as much as possible.
Even if it causes more physical damage and harm to the victims.
They do not want to see success if the credit goes to the republican president.
Ol’ Ray “The Noggin” Nagin...Look at him now.
Actually Kathleen Blanko ignored his request to call the National Guard in
Nothing to do with Katrina. Trump knows how to get things done....but he has to personally assess something....which is why I believe he went down so early.
While true, Trump did not need a PR consultant to tell him what to do. This is instinctive for him.
1. Governor Blanco did not ask for Federal help for a number of days after New Orleans. Apparently she was hysterical for a good part of the time.
2. Billions had been sent to Louisiana over the previous decades in order to maintain and enlarge the levee system in New Orleans. The money was spent elsewhere. A big scandal that the MSM downplayed.
3. A lot of the NO policemen left town, leaving it wide open to looters and bad guys.
4. The Dome issue was mostly MSM fantasy.
5. Nagin was one of the worst mayors of all time. He had no idea what to do, leaving his constituents in the water trying to survive.
On the bright side:
1. Coast Guard helicopters were flying through the tail of the hurricane in 40-45 mph winds (their limit is 45 mph) pulling people off of rooftops. Kudos to the Coast Guard.
2. When Honore came into town with troops it quieted down dramatically. And successful emergency work began immediately.
3. Houston, with Federal help, helped house people for a few months. Most went back but some have stayed.
The problem was the levees. The hurricane did not hit NO, just the tail of it. If it had hit indirectly it would have been much worse.
Hurricane + Blanco + Nagin = a real live disaster.
The author misses the point that Trump would have fought back against any media or Democrat smears. That’s why the Left could only talk about Melania’s high heels.
I agree. This is what baffles his critics
Katrina was an abject failure at every single level.
“Katrina was an abject failure at every single level.”
Amended to add: in LOUISIANA. Mississppi was struck much harder and handled it better - at the STATE level.
Right now....his problem is people like McCain....Congress in General.....and the media....bless them.
Yep. There are doers like President Trump and then are whiners like the rest you mentioned who are also petty and self-serving.
I'll side with a doer any day.
In the South if if you say "bless their/his/her hearts" what they are really saying is the opposite. It is a kind of code phrase. Is that what you meant by "bless them"?
Donald Trump learned the news media lied and lied and blamed George Bush when they knew full well it was the democrats over decades who did not repair or upgrade any of the infrastructure but instead looted the money for it.
Some background on why so many were stranded.

Popular Mechanics had an article (now lost) that explained the myths (lies) Lucky that the American Thinker site still has excerpts.

Then why did the liberals and media only blame Bush?
GWB always wanted to be liked by the establishment and respected by Democrats. The very people who savaged him while he was in power and reduced his presidency to a laughingstock. Of course they are "nice" to him now that he is out of office and not a threat. Just like they are nice to other RINOS like McCain, Romney and Dole now that they aren't running for president. But when they were running for president, they were ridiculed and attacked.
Donald Trump has broken the mold of Republicans being "nice guys" and pushovers. The Left just doesn't know how to handle it.
Absolutely...It’s pure sarcasm.
The best part of Katrina is that it flushed out (pun intended) the fact that there was a large GHOST payroll in that city. People getting paychecks that didn’t exist-—or didn’t actually do any work—or were working under more than one name with the knowledge of the politicians.
Far more people should have gone to jail. IMO.
