In my opinion, Mattis is doing EXACTLY what he was told to do.
The media is spinning this to make it look like there is disagreement.
The study could be completed in a week flat.
Just take these “transgendered” troops out on an endurance run and full field exercises, and count the ones left behind.
Just about every one of the “transgendered” will be in the trailing group.
Estrogen is not a muscle-building hormone.
I don’t care much for mattis, but the truth is that he was given leeway. (I don’t care for a number in Trump’s cabinet.)
I think the leeway was about transgender service. I don’t think the leeway extended to surgery and medication. I’d have to look it up. Do you know?

If the policy is accepted as “law” then the courts will be used to adjudicate a policy. Separation of Powers will be moot.

Trump is a whole lot more tolerant than I would be. There is a big difference between not having yes men and having disloyal insubordination.
I’m not liking this that Mattis is doing if it is true. Who knows what is true these days though?

Mattis needs to be fired.
Mattis needs to find a new job, he was given an order. We don’t need a study, if people who require other forms of matience drugs cant serve tyrannies shouldn’t either.
That said this country is doomed due to the fact that our toxic culture is incapable of sustaining itself and its victims. Anther culture is already being imported from Latin America and the Islamic world and it will take over within a few generations.
There is really very little point in wasting money defending what we have.
