Houston firefighters came under gunfire from looters while conducting search and rescue operations Monday.
Houston police union officials told The Daily Caller News Foundation that a group of firefighters were targeted by looters while helping people escape the catastrophic flooding.
We had firefighters out there helping people, and looters started firing on them, Officer Joe Gamaldi told TheDCNF Tuesday morning. We sent officers down there on a code 1 (which means as fast as you can) to assist, and they too came under fire.
Gamaldi told TheDCNF that the incident occurred at the intersection of Tidwell and Mesa, just north of the downtown area.
Gamaldi said that no one was injured in the incident, which occurred Monday afternoon.
This was absolutely the most despicable and disgusting thing that you could imagine, Gamaldi said. That our officers had to stop what they were doing, high water rescues and saving lives, to deal with looters firing at our officers and firefighters.
He had a message to looters: If you are caught, you will go to jail and there will be severe consequences.
Montgomery County (a neighboring county to Houston) District Attorney Brett Ligon made it clear that looters would be jailed and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Ligon announced Monday that his office will seek prison or jail time in each and every forthcoming case where the defendant stands charged with theft (looting), burglary, robbery, or any similar crime committed during recovery efforts.
Leniency and probation will be off the table for these offenses committed during this time, Ligon said. State law allows for enhanced punishment for certain crimes committed during a declared natural disaster event.
One resident had a stark warning to potential looters, You loot, I shoot.
what a surprise, and last week I had a black guy telling me how blacks are still in slavery. When I asked how he told me they are jailed for jay walking and many times for nothing.
So Jamaal Williams covers his face but yet his name is there for everyone to see? How stupid can you get?
I am sure this POS will be arrested ASAP
Shoot them and then put them on bait lines for gators.
You are right..more like the former.
You shoot the ones who are attacking police/fire. You shoot them dead. The problem goes away.
These are the same folks that ride around in the back of 5 ton trucks full of guns and food in places like Somalia and Uganda while millions around them are starving to death and they know it.
They need killed in the most Texas way possible.
Some folks worry that going after antifa will make another "Kent State" - we need a few "Kent States" to send the message that they will not be tolerated. Should be easy enough to place some snipers in position to take out some of the worst at some of their "protests" and while it will create a firestorm, I believe it will also force their hand into a short and bloody war that leads to less gratuitous violence.
Hey Brett. It’s called”attempted murder.”
Send in Army Apache helicopters and smoke them!
Motto now should be:
YOU LOOT-—WE SHOOT
Than adhere to this
“I saw this morning, Texas National Guard announced looters will be shot on sight...............red”
I hope that is true. Git some.
***Ligon announced Monday that his office will seek prison or jail time in each and every forthcoming case ***
In the olden days looters were immediately hanged or shot on sight. No time for a trial.
Likely that Katrina trash.
I don’t know what to say except they’re doing themselves no favors, as far as integrity goes.
Maybe they don’t care.
[”nothing”? cops just randomly arrest them and they’re convicted with no evidence? really??]
LOL. Nothing like criminals providing the evidence for their own prosecution. Brilliant Jamall. Brilliant. I am afraid your life won't matter for much longer, except to your cell mate.
Some AH-64’s would be down right useful. . . . . .
