His BIL said “We have a lot of faith in the flood pumps.”. I thought they had a lot of faith in God.

Why would evacuees be sent to a church when the stadiums are available?

His church IS a stadium.

It was formerly called 'The Summit'. The Houston Rockets played there.

The concessions are still there, he rakes in millions selling food to the congregation that he fleeces.

The former stadium is full of seats now.

How many cots will fit in there?

But this was not built as a church, it was an arena where the Houston Rockets played, and as such was built with certain flood considerations and to be used as a shelter in times of emergency.

Christianity is even harder for those who, like you do apparently, make a religion out of it.

It is not for us to declare anyone on this mortal coil beyond the reach of the Lord, because we cannot read minds. Your mocking has not failed to draw the frown of God, however.

The fog of bad weather and faux-news. There’s so much hearsay. If it’d been “flooded” it seems weird to hear a report of it being used at all again this fast.

They literally despise churches, and then they criticize them when they don’t provide services.

I hate to use the “F” word when it comes to a post related to a church, but the media is just vile.

God, this will sound blasphemous, but I sure hope You are watching what is taking place.

Our members of the media are out of control.

**(’Our church is not designated as a shelter’), **

Then designate it as such.

Superficially, your comments sound as if reasoned. I don’t agree with leaders accumulating that much personal wealth off their church.

Is that church run well? Is it a thriving concern? Is it helping people in the community? Are it’s parishioners getting the personal and religious support they need? Are it’s parishioners having to bankrupt themselves so this man and his family can live like this?

Was this property worth considerably less a decade or two ago? Has it appreciated in value along the way?

There are many variables that could impact my thoughts on this man’s estate.

I’m not sure at all that he is evil, or taking advantage of his church members.

They seem to be comfortable with him, and they must know of his home.

A guy is recognized by Oprah. Is that grounds to say proof positive he is evil?

Do you know of any other pastors Oprah liked? Other than Jeremiah Wright?

If your pastor owns the most expensive home in the congregation, collects Ferraris, and owns a jet all on the backs of little old ladies putting their Social Security check in the collection basket and buying his books and DVD's for the hope of his 'Prosperity Gospel' allowing them to buy their medication...

I know of a guy who purchased a property for $200,000 dollars in La Canada, CA. He invested some money in the property and today it’s worth $5 to $7.5 million, perhaps even more. It’s on about five acres.

If you know all the particulars about this pastor’s property, and all the financial dealings of the church, then perhaps you’re right.

He has a congregation of 16,000. Do you honestly think that is made up of only little old ladies turning over their SS checks?

I don’t have an instant negative opinion of other people’s church leaders.

It would seem to me that with 16,000 people watching what this guy is doing, at least some of them would be angry if he’s as bad as you say.

Is his congregation going after him?

Do Not Judge

(Luke 6:37-42; Romans 14:1-12)

1JUDGE not, that you may not be judged, 2For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3Any why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye? 4Or how sayest thou to thy brother: Let me cast the mote out of thy eye; and behold a beam is in thy own eye? 5Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam in thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

If it was flooded with category 3 water to have it suitable for a shelter within 24 hours is a miracle in itself. I know this factually. I am not an Osteen fan by any measure either.

I have no idea what you're talking about in either the post I quoted and responded to or this post you wrote to me in response.

Fwiw, you were misleading if not lying about Osteen and his being "willing to give true glory to the Lord for His gifts."

I actually listen to Osteen in the car and, while ymmv, the one aspect of Osteen's preaching I find most valuable is his preaching about being thankful and giving glory to God for all of God's blessings, no matter how big or small, and to be thankful where you are and how things are in your life right now, rather than bitching and moaning about how you want things to be.

Which leads me to the second part of your post. What is it that the Osteens need to be forgiven for, oh righteous one? How do you know that Osteen isn't highly favored by the Lord?

Perhaps you and the Accuser can get together and share your notes on the Osteens many offenses before trying the Osteens in the Court of the Lord. I bet the Lord loves stuff like that!

Anyhoo...I have no idea what 'mocking' you're referring to, but hey, thanks for caring!
