The University of Tampa says a faculty member who made comments about people impacted by Harvey has been, relieved of his duties. The university condemned the comments Monday night in a statement made on Facebook. According to the post, a faculty member named Kenneth Storey made comments via his private social media account about Harvey. The comments were not made within his capacity as a faculty member, and they dont represent the Universitys views, the statement says. News Channel 8 was sent the alleged comments via Twitter.
The founder of the conservative organization Turning Point USA also posted screenshots of Storeys alleged tweet on Monday, sparking an outrage online.
In the Facebook statement, the University of Tampa says it condemns the comments and the sentiment behind them. The University of Tampa stands in solidarity with the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey, and our thoughts and prayers are with all involved, the statement said. On Tuesday, the University of Tampa sent News Channel 8 this statement that was sent out to the UT community: On Sunday, Aug. 27, visiting assistant professor of sociology Kenneth Storey made comments on a private Twitter account that do not reflect UTs community views or values. We condemn the comments and the sentiment behind them, and understand the pain this irresponsible act has caused. Storey has been relieved of his duties at UT, and his classes will be covered by other sociology faculty.

From Ken Storey to His Storey.
He wrote that he didn’t believe in instant karma, but maybe now he does.
Relieved of her duties. Was she relieved over pay?
The fact that they disagree with his comments isn’t the reason they should use for firing him. That should go without saying. The fact that he is so emotionally and mentally unstable and so filled with hate for those who disagree with his politics that he would make such a post is evidence that he’s unfit to teach students at a Florida State funded university.
You can read what he wrote at the link. I’m amazed he got fired, actually.
Tweets at link.
Hurricane Harvey is a natural disaster, not a politically-caused disaster.
We should all be so lucky it's not us and wish the best for those suffering.
They say they disagree. My bet is he got fired for getting caught saying it.
Just checked University of Tampa Sociology Department...doesn’t have him listed under faculty. Either they updated their website very quickly or he was an adjunct. I don’t know if a tenured or tenure-track faculty member could have been dismissed so quickly, so I am guessing he was probably an adjunct, maybe just teaching a course or two on a year-to-year or semester-to-semester basis.
Seems ironic on it’s face, doesn’t it? A sociology prof who has no social empathy and is willing to condemn an entire population to suffering because of his political leanings.
It’s not ironic if you’ve been to University. You’ll understand how people with so little common sense or genuine humanity can succeed academically.
I thought they deserved it because they’re so homosexual. :/
They called him a “visiting assistant Professor” per AP article:
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) The University of Tampa has fired a visiting assistant professor who suggested in a tweet that Hurricane Harveys destruction is instant karma for Texas because it voted Republican.
Sociology professor Kenneth L. Storey posted the tweet and two responses on Sunday before removing the entire thread and his profile photo.
University spokesman Eric Cardenas said in a statement Tuesday that Storey was fired after the school weathered an outpouring of online outrage over the comments.
The Tampa Bay Times reports Storey issued an apology on Monday, writing that he never meant to wish ill will upon any group.
In a Facebook post on Monday evening, the university said it stands in solidarity with the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Officials said another sociology professor will take over Storeys classes.
“has no social empathy and is willing to condemn an entire population to suffering because of his political leanings”
Congrats, you just defined every liberal in the world my friend.
Instant Karma’s going to get you...
On Rate My Professor he is described as a super easy grader (1.5 on the difficulty scale).
Does he beat up Trump supporters in his off time? Give lower grades to conservative students? He’s a hater... nice to see a College has a line that can’t be crossed. Princeton would have offered the creep tenure.
” WOW! Professor at U of Tampa says GOP voters and Houston residents DESERVE #hurricaneharvey because of how they voted SICK!
