The University of Tampa says a faculty member who made comments about people impacted by Harvey has been, relieved of his duties. The university condemned the comments Monday night in a statement made on Facebook. According to the post, a faculty member named Kenneth Storey made comments via his private social media account about Harvey. The comments were not made within his capacity as a faculty member, and they dont represent the Universitys views, the statement says. News Channel 8 was sent the alleged comments via Twitter.
The founder of the conservative organization Turning Point USA also posted screenshots of Storeys alleged tweet on Monday, sparking an outrage online.
In the Facebook statement, the University of Tampa says it condemns the comments and the sentiment behind them. The University of Tampa stands in solidarity with the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey, and our thoughts and prayers are with all involved, the statement said. On Tuesday, the University of Tampa sent News Channel 8 this statement that was sent out to the UT community: On Sunday, Aug. 27, visiting assistant professor of sociology Kenneth Storey made comments on a private Twitter account that do not reflect UTs community views or values. We condemn the comments and the sentiment behind them, and understand the pain this irresponsible act has caused. Storey has been relieved of his duties at UT, and his classes will be covered by other sociology faculty.

Wait til congress gets involved ...they will screw it up..
Read.My.Fax. :D
Is relieved of duties mean fired or does that mean he goes on hiatus until this all quiets down and he can go back to teaching there?
Same here...I think it's a very good policy. Mine is not almost exclusively family only but even so I'm thinking of deleting my account.
Thumbs up! No doubt the university is just reacting to this tool being caught.
Depends on what day is it is.
Don’t be a hater! /sarc
That is wise. No one is perfect. Someone is always waiting to pounce, no matter where.
Not saying that what he said is OK; just saying that the universities encourage these types of views and people who hold them, and now that many universities are suffering financial downturns because of leftist social media comments and videos, they are starting to throw "offenders" (that their pc social marxism created) to the wolves.
Deleted mine three days (yes, three) days after signing up. It took me that long to realize what a colossal waste of space fake book is.
Did Hillary voters deserve the hurricane? In Houston she won 53-41 per cent
I called the university this a.m. and told them they pissed off the wrong state.
My ex-boss left the company and it appears she may have been fired. She is a mother of three and got a divorce a few months before that.
Shortly after she left I got a facebook friend request from her.
Her lesbian live in lover still works here. There is no way I could accept that request.
This jerk looks like a young Michael Moore.
Thinks like him too..
I understand. I’ve had to explain to my conservative friends who work for the RNC or state/local GOP committees that I can’t friend them on LinkedIn. I’d never work another day in my field.
I can friend in Linkedin because I never post anything there. It’s all strictly endorsing skills.
If some of my colleagues read who my linked people are, and that they are officials with the GOP, I’d be dead to them, and I’m an independent contractor. So I just keep my mouth shut about politics.
Gotcha.
I’m a contractor too, but all of my contacts on Linkedin are simply people I’ve worked with, and none of it was political. So I can get away with it.
Interestingly, at my current contract, after about a year the folks here fessed up that they checked out my Facebook page and Linkedin page. But my Facebook page is locked down tight and my linkedin one is pure professional.
Small correction.
Well, Ann Coulter mentioned Houston being punished for electing a lesbian mayor first.
