The fact that they disagree with his comments isn’t the reason they should use for firing him. That should go without saying. The fact that he is so emotionally and mentally unstable and so filled with hate for those who disagree with his politics that he would make such a post is evidence that he’s unfit to teach students at a Florida State funded university.

They say they disagree. My bet is he got fired for getting caught saying it.
Just checked University of Tampa Sociology Department...doesn’t have him listed under faculty. Either they updated their website very quickly or he was an adjunct. I don’t know if a tenured or tenure-track faculty member could have been dismissed so quickly, so I am guessing he was probably an adjunct, maybe just teaching a course or two on a year-to-year or semester-to-semester basis.
Seems ironic on it’s face, doesn’t it? A sociology prof who has no social empathy and is willing to condemn an entire population to suffering because of his political leanings.
It’s not ironic if you’ve been to University. You’ll understand how people with so little common sense or genuine humanity can succeed academically.
I thought they deserved it because they’re so homosexual. :/
They called him a “visiting assistant Professor” per AP article:
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The University of Tampa has fired a visiting assistant professor who suggested in a tweet that Hurricane Harvey’s destruction is “instant karma” for Texas because it voted Republican.
Sociology professor Kenneth L. Storey posted the tweet and two responses on Sunday before removing the entire thread and his profile photo.
University spokesman Eric Cardenas said in a statement Tuesday that Storey was fired after the school weathered an outpouring of online outrage over the comments.
The Tampa Bay Times reports Storey issued an apology on Monday, writing that he “never meant to wish ill will upon any group.”
In a Facebook post on Monday evening, the university said it “stands in solidarity with the people impacted by Hurricane Harvey.”
Officials said another sociology professor will take over Storey’s classes.
