Hillary Clintons case isnt interesting enough to the public to justify releasing the FBIs files on her, the bureau said this week in rejecting an open-records request by a lawyer seeking to have the former secretary of state punished for perjury.
Ty Clevenger, the lawyer, has been trying to get Mrs. Clinton and her personal lawyers disbarred for their handling of her official emails during her time as secretary of state. Hes met with resistance among lawyers, and now his request for information from the FBIs files has been shot down.
You have not sufficiently demonstrated that the publics interest in disclosure outweighs personal privacy interests of the subject, FBI records management section chief David M. Hardy told Mr. Clevenger in a letter Monday.
It is incumbent upon the requester to provide documentation regarding the publics interest in the operations and activities of the government before records can be processed pursuant to the FOIA, Mr. Hardy wrote.
Mrs. Clinton, is the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, former chief diplomat, former U.S. senator, and former first lady of both the U.S. and Arkansas. Her use of a secret email account to conduct government business while leading the State Department was front-page news for much of 2015 and 2016, and was so striking that the then-FBI director broke with procedure and made both a public statement and appearances before Congress to talk about the bureaus probe.
In the end, the FBI didnt recommend charges against Mrs. Clinton, concluding that while she risked national security, she was too technologically inept to know the dangers she was running, so no case could be made against her.
The FBI says it will only release records from its files if a subject consents, is dead, or is of such public interest that it overrides privacy concerns.

The public where? In Zimbabwe or America?
"Lock her up" was not just campaign rhetoric.....we were serious and I hope President Trump truly understands that. No, she has not suffered enough.
Whether they tried Hillary or not had little to do with her intent. It was completely about how popular it would be and they divined this from the tea leaves in Comey’s tea cup. /sarc
Flood DOJ with emails saying we are interested, and to order the FBI to release the FOIA requested documents immediately if not sooner!!!
Paging the PING LIST. Not sure who is doing this now.........................1
Clearly the FBI is as corrupt as the IRS and both houses of Congress. Way past due for a complete and thorough DC house cleaning and I seriously doubt it will come about through law and politics.
Do we still really need the FBI? They seem to be a pretty compromised organization and we have oodles of other agencies that love to run around in SWAT gear and talk in code...
Now, "the public isn't interested enough", so the FBI gives her a pass again.
No wonder the American people have no faith in the government and the rule of law.
If this lying, corrupt loser gets a free pass, time-after-time-after time, then there is no justice.
It's all a charade.
Reads like a news story from “The Onion”.
I'm ok with that....
Yes, agree. It is their own, self-serving definition of public interest.
We've done our part. We used the electoral process, we prevailed, but it still didn't work. We counted on the law to punish the liberals when they broke them. the law didn't come through. There is no avenue left to us, except to fight them on their level.
So if “lack of public interest” is the measure, how’s that Russia investigation going? Public interest my aching butt.
The FBI is corrupt and crooked to the core? who knew?
Comeys cpmmie buddies
It may be determined that Hillary may have broken federal law, but it may also be determined that the FBI has “no standing” to investigate the case. Because Hillary.
The sequel to Mr Smith Goes to Washinton.
Mr Smith Takes a Nap.
First it was ‘no intent’ to be a criminal thug and now it is ‘ no interest’ in her criminal activity. What a pathetic joke the FBI is....
Why, you...grrr.
