At this moment, Japan is not laughing at her Keystone Kops neighbor.
However, it may not be the misfiring missiles that Japan should be watching.
The Daily Mail is reporting that some Nork-watchers fear that Kim Jong-un, despairing of missile delivery of nuclear warheads, could turn to an almost ancient aviation technology for his delivery vehicles: his fleet of Antonov AN-2 bi-wing transport aircraft, of which he reportedly has several hundred. The Annie, as this aircraft is known by the thousands who have flown it and continue to do so all around the world, looks like something from WWI, having been designed by the Soviets and first flown in the late 1940s.
Annie is a true work horse and the go-to aircraft in many remote areas of the world because of its ability to carry heavy payloads in and out of primitive areas with minimal landing and take-off amenities. It has a limited range of about 500 miles, but that is enough to reach much of Japan and all of South Korea. "How could some old airplane do that in the face of all our modern air defenses?" you ask. And therein reposes Annie's advantage. She flies too low and slow to be detected by radar systems, and with an earth/sky camouflage paint scheme, she is almost impossible spot from above by faster, higher flying aircraft.
Our modern air defense systems are actually programmed to ignore such radar returns from the likes of Annie to sift out civilian distractions. And when I say slow, I mean an aircraft that could possibly fly forty miles an hour at treetop level without stalling all the way from Wonsan to Nagasaki and Hiroshima, carrying a two-ton nuclear bomb.

They really don’t have an air force since the most modern aircraft they have are used Russian fighters made in the 70’s.... Most of their crap are classics left over from the 50’s and 60’s........
Long range route surveillance radar do not ignore aircraft like that, and would pick it up as soon as it broke the horizon. Being slow means that the defender has lots more reaction time. Wearing camouflage livery is an invitation to be shot down.
When a nation evaluates potential risks posed by adversaries they see things like capabilities, current and proposed forces, industrial capacity and motivations. Those are just some of the factors, not an inclusive list. But how does one evaluate a bellicose “god” with absolute power who has an army general, a relative, executed with an antiaircraft gun? I’d say you can’t. You have two choices, live with it and deal with it on a case by case basis, or eliminate him. Either way has the potential to kill millions of people. Current world politics is forgod’ssakedon’trocktheboat! The longer the situation is allowed to fester the more difficult and hazardous a solution will be. I think Trump realizes this. Negotiation isn’t going to work. It just puts off the inevitable. The best course, as spoken by somebody who won’t lose his job as a result, is to take action at a time and place of your choosing. Regardless of how that works out, Trump will be accused of not doing any of the other options he could have chosen. Fortunately, I think Trump is inclined to take action when he’s ready and let the chips fall where they may. Regardless, we need to support him as the alternative is more of the feckless Obama/Clinton policies that allowed this dangerous situation to develop in the first place.
Put floats on that behemoth and you would have a real formidable weapon. Not sure what takeoff speed and distance they might need if carrying a heavy payload.
Modern AA systems are built to fight drones, they hardly ignore a plane which can carry 12 people. The plane’s advantages -the stall speed rate below 22 knots and short runway requirements wouldn’t be useful to deliver a nuclear payload to Japan, rather several saboteurs to South Korea.

The problem with Kim is you can’t anticipate everything he will do. There is probably this and 20 other ways they are considering to delivering an atomic bomb to us or Japan. The solution is not to anticipate every move he is going to make, that’s an impossibility. The solution has to be getting rid of this regime.
I am hoping that we are in secret negotiations right now with China. It is in our interests as well as China’s to get rid of Kim’s regime. We should be asking China right now, how long do you think it will take Japan to go nuclear? How about South Korea? Do you want nuclear proliferation in your back yard? Do you want a nuclear war to start in your backyard? South Korea and China are tied at the hip economically, destroy Seoul and you also destroy China’s economy.
We should be negotiating with China to say, look get rid of Kim and his regime. They know all the top leaders, make a deal with some of them to kill Kim and transport them and their families to live in China. At that point, we can have South Korea unite with North Korea and become one country. In exchange, we pull all of our troops out of South Korea, we along with Japan and China will pledge so much money and support to help build (not rebuild, but build) infrastructure in the North.
It’s a win/win for everyone. We get rid of the North Korean nuclear problem, and pull all of those troops back to the states. Perhaps we can negotiate opening Clark Airbase in the Philippines to move the airbase at Osan to. China gets a lot of our troops out of there and they open up whole new economic trading possibilities with a united Korea.
It’s going to be hard at the beginning, much like the reunification of Germany in 1989. The united Korea will probably go into a recession, but in the end they will come back stronger and there will be no nuclear problem in Asia anymore.
Bring back the P51 and P47.
