I remember “pickles,” and “canned pickles” when we got our name tags sewn on. Don’t know what 1505’s are, by that name.

1505's were the khaki uniform, like the blue uniforms were 1549/1550. I was one of the last BMT flights to get that issue in 1975 and they were so old and mismatched that the khaki trousers had a pink hue. We suspected that they had tried to clear out the old Army Air Corps supply from before 1947.

No, we didn’t get those. I was in ‘81-’85. They kept floating rumors that we’d get the suede boots and cammies, but no. Just perm press fatigues and boots we had to shine.
