After the racially charged events that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia, earlier this month, San Francisco 49ers strong safety Eric Reid said he still did not plan to resume kneeling during the national anthem in protest of racial inequality in the United States.
Upon further consideration, Reid reversed course.

And this statement seems to contradict what he is quoted earlier in the article: "This has been fueled by my faith in God. That's the only reason I do it,"
He ought to get a real job commensurate to his education.
Be a shame if his knee gets blown out the first game of the season.
NFL should have put a stop to this crap the first time it started last year.
There is absolutely no “right” to utilize one’s employment, uniform, etc. to conduct personal political protests.
You want to protest? Do it on your own time, your own dime.

NFL is nothing but a bunch of America hating fags in tights.
This is between Reid and his employer. And if his employer is stupid enough to pi— off half of their customer base - it’s a free country.
Yes, of course taking a knee (genuflecting) to the anthem of a government is of course fueled by faith in God. How could we not all see that?
Genuflection: it’s what servants did before their lords and masters.
“Genuflection (or genuflexion), bending at least one knee to the ground, was from early times a gesture of deep respect for a superior. In 328 BC, Alexander the Great introduced into his court etiquette some form of genuflection already in use in Persia.[1] In the Byzantine Empire even senators were required to genuflect to the emperor.[2] In medieval Europe, one demonstrated respect for a king or noble by going down on one knee.[3]
People who genuflect are not free.
For one thing, the NFL is a brand. The 49ers is a brand. These actions disparage the brand and make it less marketable, and ultimately hurt the bottom line.
Imagine Skippy Peanut Butter or Cracker Jacks or any other famous brand putting up with one of its team hurting the brand's image. The offender would be gone in one quick jiffy.
nfl??? What’s that? Who needs to spend their time watching highly paid racists & haters disrespect America?
ESPN - The best the left has in sports! Pushing a leftist agenda through sports. I try to avoid watching anything on ESPN. That said, my Gators appear on the SEC channel and it’s owned by ESPN. What to do.....What to do....Mick Hubert on the radio!
Be smart enough to boycott the NFL!
Who selects drama above money?
not most women, but some women would.
the NFL is feminized.
The employer was astute enough to hire a female assistant coach. She is a dyke and coaches, get this, wide receivers. The tight ends are jealous.
Can't remember the last time ESPN was turned on in my house, either.
Looks like the 49ers are going to have another banner year like last year!!! Oh Wait!!!!
Per the article: He also attended Kaepernick’s “Know Your Rights” camps in Chicago and New York.
I wonder where they stayed. A posh hotel in the ritzy parts of town or multiple days in the inner city without any security walking through the streets at night and supporting those communities. Will they stop dining at fancy restaurants and eat only at local inner city places? How about doing that protest for a year.
Someone should tell these “geniuses” that kneeling is a sign of reverence. Therefore, when they kneel for the National Anthem, they are actually expressing reverence toward it.
What to do? You already answered your question. THe “Gators” are YOUR team. Watch them, root for them, but for the GATORS only!! Totally ignore and boycott every other second football is on the air, thus not suffering through never ending stupid commercials. That hits the NFL in its most painful place....the wallet.
I’ve pledged my time to the Pats....everyone else..I still have tapes of Bugs Bunny cartoons. They will fill in my time on Monday and Thursday nites and the rest of Sunday. I feel more loyalty to Bugs than to the NFL.
