Kaspersky Ties to Russian FSB Revealed
Kaspersky Labs, the Moscow-based security provider, has adamatly denied any ties to the Russian government. However, CBS News recently confirmed a certificate has surfaced confirming a relationship between the security firm and the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). This certificate confirms the U.S. governments concerns of ties between the security company and its government services. The relationship is concerning for many due to the questionable decisions of the Russian government, and whether or not this relationship would be abused to obtain classified information from the devices using Kaspersky for their security solution. This assumption isnt necessarily a far reach, considering security programs have access to every file on the end-point. If they wanted to, they could certain exploit this data.
Rob Joyce, cyber security coordinator for the Trump administration states,
I worry that as a nation state Russia really hasnt done the right things for this country and they have a lot of control and latitude over the information that goes to companies in Russia. So I worry about that. Former deputy director of the CIA, Michael Morell states,
There is a connection between Kaspersky and Russian intelligence, and Im absolutely certain that Russian intelligence would want to use that connection to their advantage.
But Would Kaspersky Provide Data to the Russian Government?
Yes, they have done so before. In the past, they have hacked the hacker and collaborated with the Russian government to prosecute. Heres how first, they would find out where the hacker lived. Then they would notify the Russian government. Kaspersky officials would then escort the government employees to these hackers homes. This could be considered a relationship for the greater good. But, does it cross lines between the security vendor and its nations government? At what point does the information a security vendor obtains become open for release to third-party officials?
So now that we know foreign governments have “weaponized” software, it’s time to end the H1B visa program since it’s being used as a Trojan horse by the Russians, Chinese, and Indians ...
Trump is behind this! < /S >
Our own cybersecurity firms have security clearance with the FBI.
This proves nothing.
Microsquish and nsa.
Counterpoint.
Yes, end H1B, ban Kaspersky in US, especially on government and contractors.
Kaspersky is far and away the best malware protection I’ve found. Had one problem after another until I installed it.
Anybody remember that Kaspersky commercial with the hot Russian babe asking, “Do you haf veerms?”
As a result their software is better able to detect American intelligence originated hacks.
So the question becomes which government are you more concerned about snooping your information and which government is more likely to do so.
Ditto that..!!
Yeah. Sad that I trust the Russian government more than I trust my own.
You don't know who is listening.

Yes - now I posted nothing about backdoors. Nothing at all. Cue .gif from WarGames.
Which is why I never buy MiG-31’s online. But you have to think in Russian. And, you have to use Russian salad dressing on your sandwich, so that CNN and MSNBC can have a “Breaking News” story.
Fire rearward missile!!
I use PC Matic, and it’s great. It works better than anything else I’ve found.
Tell me... Why don’t US malware tools find NSA/CIA malware?
... and Awans..
I think my Kindle spies on what I type online. Tinfoil I guess.
ping
I’m pretty sure PC Matic does.
Let's see a picture of the alleged "certificate". I can read Russian and can translate it (if it even exists) to see whether it says anything remotely comparable to the claim.
