ESPN needs to drop to 2 million viewers.

The people there are idiots.

There don't seem to be adults in charge of much at all, these days...

Normally, I'd say that this was a case where some moron added two and two and got three. I've said/done stupid things before, and am glad that I don't have a national spotlight on my mistakes.

But 1) Espn's liberal bent and 2) the fact that they doubled down on it, shows that this wasn't a mistake, but a calculated move.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I'd look for the brand to get sold off in the next 3 years as their long-term contracts become a drag, rather than an asset.

So, what is Mr. Lee’s middle initial?

If it’s something other than “E”, why doesn’t he use it for temporary professional reasons?

(Not that it should be necessary).

I think I'll DVR any games on ESPN and not tune into the network. Question: Does that count as viewership?

Of course, I'll watch my beloved Gators on the SEC Network, which, I believe, is owned by ESPN. (Maybe DVR SEC and listen on radio) Conundrum!

BTW, I might just tune into the Virginia game just to hear any, and all, worthless disclaimers.

Yes; it wasn’t just an on-air “slip” by someone, but a calculated decision that they took.

Nothing but slavish sucking-up to a vocal but very small minority - who probably would never have stretched to make the connection anyway. ESPN made it FOR them ;-)

Someone needs to create a meme that has side by side pictures of the 2 Lees. Something along the lines of “Robert E. Lee, General CSA, and Robert Lee, Sportscaster. Any questions?”

Then tweet it out to MSESPN.

Won’t be no ESPN at my house this year, they’ve been put right next to FOX news and all the others, that is to say the bit bucket. We cut the cable back in June and haven’t missed it.

Yes, that does count as viewing it because your DVR is viewing the broadcast.

However if you want to watch the Gators go ahead and enjoy the game. No one will hold it against you here.

The article is correct! Most of the time we neither know nor care who the announcers are. All we want them to do announce what is happening on the court or field. The ESPN announcers are much to prone to get involved in sports trivia conservations among themselves while totally ignoring what is happening in the contest. One tries to outdo the other with their trivia knowledge. Drives me crazy. Most of them stink up the broadcast booth.
