Yap, only time debt limit could be extended should be during a high intensity war situation.
Taking on national debt during peace times is EXACTLY like acquiring more credit cards and load up on expenditures on credit, when unable to pay off previous credit card debt already in place.

Eliminate federal welfare spending, both for idle people and for corporations and there eill be enough money to rebuild the military and reduce the debt (that's the debt, not the deficit.)
