Homelessness among women veterans is expected to increase at greater rates as more women in the military reintegrate into their communities following their military service, according to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. While women currently make up eight percent of the total veteran population and 14.6% of the active duty military, those figures are expected to increase to an estimated 16% by 2035.

That is so sad, I know a few vets, the ones now seem far worse off then the older ones I remember... but that could be just the ones i have met.

[basically, comes down to whether DOD survey was flawed compared to general population survey by DOJ]
they might have been abused by other women.
They could be getting rapped by other women, too.
I don’t really see the point. Then again, unlike my father, I did not serve in the military. I was too young for Vietnam, and too old for Gulf War One, so - since there was no war to fight - I did not serve.
I just think women in the military should be strongly limited. It’s a man’s job.
I agree. I would add it is a man’s obligation and the opportunity is there with five active and seven reserve components.
I have heard that from plenty of squids.
...and now that it is legal there will be plenty of Butch Reno types to swear under oath that everything was consensual.
Some years back, I talked to a military lawyer who had spent the last year working on POTENTIAL rape cases at a large overseas air base. He said he believed a FEW of them were raped. However, there were almost no prosecutions.
Why?
He said a typical scenario went like this:
Male and female went out to dinner together. They got drunk together. They return to his or her room, hand in hand, still drinking. They are seen kissing each other in the hallway. They spend the night together. At no time does anyone in the adjacent rooms hear any fighting or screams.
Three days later, the woman claims rape.
He strongly believed most were lying. However, he did believe a few. But either way - you cannot get a conviction for rape in the scenario described. It is up to the prosecutor to prove rape happened, beyond a reasonable doubt.
So...the UK Daily Mail runs a story by drug addicts and homeless women who claim they were raped. Were they?
Who knows? But I don’t believe a homeless person was even IN the military unless they prove it first. A homeless drug addict is NOT the most honest person you will ever meet!
