Homelessness among women veterans is expected to increase at greater rates as more women in the military reintegrate into their communities following their military service, according to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. While women currently make up eight percent of the total veteran population and 14.6% of the active duty military, those figures are expected to increase to an estimated 16% by 2035.

There was a reason we fought WW2 etc with just men.
Why are women in the military?
Taking up our shore duty slots.
Three hots and a cot...
B-29 mechanic? Yeah, right.
I would have expected military men to behave better than raping women...especially fellow military members.
How many men have been sexually abused in the military by other GBQTs?
How many women have been raped by other women in the military?
Rufied or drunk, lesbians will prey on other women while they are unable to provide legal consent.
A valid Question, but does that lesson the pain of these women?
Abuse is abuse.
Some try to spin it as a part of the military culture when it certainly is not official policy.
Are the numbers appreciably higher than women being assaulted in general society?
I see some responses on here like “its why we shouldnt have women in the military” and in certain situations i completely agree, combat roles etc... but hell, some of it sounds like the lame azz excuses muzzies make... like it was some sort of “sexual emergency” or some crap...
whatever happened to Duty/HONOR/Courage??
I haven’t made the charge that women don’t belong there or deserve it.
Selective coverage.
True. But also they should be kept separate for basic training and all personal privacy period of time.
For actual work they can be together just like in a business.
How many so called rape accusations are actually more complicated than we're lead to believe.
No doubt some of them are false and or complicated. But not all of them...
However, I also saw many young women who were ill equipped emotionally to handle the attention they received from their male comrades, and they had a problem saying no, quite frankly. One young woman of my acquaintance was raped by her supervisor one day, but she didn't make a big deal of it, not because she was afraid, but because she kind of liked hm and “he wanted it so bad.” That made her fair game for every other guy in the unit. In retrospect, years later, having lost her mojo I expect she may remember these occurrences as traumatic, but at the time she did not appear traumatized, even when I pointed out the dangers of the situation.
There are also problems that occur because, quite frankly, there are women who prostitute themselves. This has been a problem in the navy, particularly out at sea. Every other women, therefore, is looked upon as a slut or whore, and treated accordingly, no matter how decent they may be.
It would probably not be politically correct, but in my view, every woman entering military service has got to learn how to handle themselves and say no. A lot of women seem to have a hard time understanding how primitive a guy's sexual impulse can be.
Thanks for adding that... that does make things a bit more clear.
The Aberdeen Scandal was a military sexual assault scandal in 1996 at Aberdeen Proving Ground, a United States Army base in Maryland.
Ultimately, twelve drill instructors were charged with sex crimes; four were sentenced to prison, while eight others were discharged or received non-judicial punishment.[1] Additionally, “letters of reprimand were issued to Aberdeen’s commanding general and three other senior officers.”[1]

Wikipedia ......and this was twenty plus years ago.
When I was growing the people who were “Taught to handle themselves” were the men; not saying that the women don’t need to be warned that not all men are NOT as “well behaved” as the boys they left behind. Same is true for going away to college or to the Big City.
WHY would a returning vet be homeless ?
Simple .... no wife nor husband.
It is amazing what a man or a woman can do (and HAS done since The Garden) if they are righteously coupled together and live life as a marriage.
No other element ... education, MOS, city they live in, etc., etc., has a thing to do with homelessness except they have no one to share life with.
