A Navy guided-missile destroyer, the USS John S. McCain, collided with a commercial vessel east of Singapore early Monday morning local time, the Navy said.
There were 10 sailors missing and five injured, the Navy said. "Four of the injured were medically evacuated by a Republic of Singapore Navy Puma helicopter to a hospital in Singapore for non-life threatening injuries," the Navy said in a statement. "The fifth injured Sailor does not require further medical attention."
The collision with the merchant ship Alnic MC occurred east of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore at 6:24 a.m. Japan Standard Time, as the McCain was on its way for a routine port visit in Singapore, the Navy said.

You didn’t see my other post
They are anchored
I did read the headline and first paragraph, but didn't spend too much time with it as I don't like pages that lead off with videos.
Yes, I did not see your post on anchoring before I answered, and I just forgot to mention that I did open the WSJ’s story from my general search previous to your post link, but could not reference the anchoring farther down the article.
Could be like the 007 movie, Tomorrow Never Dies? Maybe someone hacked the barge’s navigation system and put them on an intercept path, lol.... But the catch is, they would need to know the Navy’s path, and that is definitely classified.
I see you're tryin' to have a little fun with me, but seriously...
The Oil/Chemical Tanker Alnic MC is more than twice the size and less than 5% as maneuverable as the McCain, and has the right of way at sea.
It would be effectively impossible for the Alnic MC to run down the McCain with or without intent, UNLESS
The McCain had a major dereliction of duty, discipline and seamanship among the Captain and several crew members, or the McCain suffered a catastrophic failure of the navigation and collision avoidance systems AND a failure of crew discipline and training in emergency response.
The Navy has just signaled a concern over the entire Navy and not just the McCain, which means they are concerned over similar EQUIPMENT on other US Naval ships.
Indeed, it would be hard to believe or near impossible for it to be some type of hack to their geo-systems - as many other things would have had to go wrong on both ships too.
Hopefully they will get is sorted out.... seeing our servicemen and women die as such is horrible. It shouldn’t be happening in the 21st century.
The Captain thought he could make it in time.
He didn’t. He got hit just before being clear. The container ship was making better speed than he thought
