When you build facilities to match utilization rates, and then import a large number of folks who breed like rats, I can see how a system overload could occur.

When a service is “free” it is hardly surprising when the level of service drops steadily towards zero.

Kick out all of the terrorists and use the money that had been being spent on them to improve maternity care.

It has been bad for years in Sweden. My son was born in Gothenburg 15 years ago. There were only 2 birthing centers in a city of 450,000+- .

You go to both in advance to see which one you want to go to.

We called our choice, Molndahl, when wife’s water broke. They said no room. So we called Ostra. They said no room.

We called Molndahl back and they said to drive to Helsingborg - 140 miles away(even though her water had already broken.)

We said we are coming there anyway.

Wife gave birth in a general appointment room with nothing but a hand held baby heart rate monitor and a bottle of nitrous oxide. Funny when you look back at it but not at the time.

No one can ever convince me of the merits of socialized medicine.

" ... The ball is in the politicians' court; they need to listen to the people and to the midwives," Wallstedt told TT newswire.

Good luck with that.
