Where did the term White Nationalism” come from?

I have heard of “White Separatists” and “White Supremacists”.

Before the Trump presidency, I had not heard the term.

Anyone know where it originated?

I just looked at the Wikipedia list of White Nationalist groups and they are all white supremacist groups.

Is this a ploy by the Left Media Cartel to conflate Trump’s nationalist policies and white supremacy?

It sure seems to be.

I have pondered the same question. It seemed that the identity only showed up a short time ago. The Media/Left needed some incendiary term to raise emotions. Note how it intends that only 'whites' are pushing 'nationalism'. 'Nationalism' by itself lacks the incendiary feature.

Late in the election cycle, Hillary started using the term Alt-Right. Most people had no idea what she meant. I just figured it was a late version of her 'vast right wing conspiracy', but Alt-Right did not really catch on.

Identity politics that is intended to lead to scorched earth and politics of personal destruction. Fearmongering.

Your instinct is correct.

It’s an attempt to capture the language, conflating plain old nationalism with white supremacists.

It is borrowed from ‘black nationalism’, most recently closely identified with the black Nation of Islam.

I think the term “white nationalism” was invented recently by the media. The same media who decided George Zimmerman was a “white Hispanic” in the Trayvon Martin case.

It didn’t comport with their template of whites killing innocent blacks when they learned that Zimmerman was really Hispanic. So they decided to call him a “white Hispanic”.

It’s the same mindset which has invented this term “White Nationalist”, which none of us had ever heard of a couple of weeks ago. Now it’s all over the media because the media are pushing that concept.
