No. The monuments don’t “deserve” to be removed. Stopped reading right there.

Only an idiot would think that you could “applaud” the removal of Confederate statues but then somehow turn around a protect George Washington from the same fate.

In a back handed way, this may serve to get people interested in researching/learning about who these historical figures are.

When I was in my early teens, I’ll never forget being spellbound watching the electric map in a darkened room at Gettysburg and listening to the whole story of the battle.

If they remove a statue of Robert E. Lee they will not only drive his admirers underground (of which I am one) but create new ones due to the enormity of the erasure.

Statue removers don’t operate in a vacuum without any consequences; on the contrary they create backlashes.

This person is dreaming if he thinks the turmoil has anything to do with monuments.

The news media and their sycophants in the dim party will feed you what they want you to believe.

By removing the statues, they are bound to repeat history instead of learning from it.

Exactly what I’ve asked of many who support the removals, including a bunch of deluded FReepers.

Where were their protests these last few decades? No, they’ve got to be led around by the nose by stupid hard-core leftists. Not an original thought in their heads.

Post of the day. Good point. It’s not about the monuments. It’s about control of the country.

Exactly "Russia" failed. They are trying their favorite card "racism" for a spin. If it wins, they will keep playing it. If not, they will move on to the next one on their list, which they are already focus group testing and polishing. The goal is absolute power, and President Trump stands in the way. They will do anything necessary and tell any useful lie to retain the power that Trump and his supporters threaten.

The big eye opener for me has been that there seem to be so many anti-American American people today. This means the so called educational system in today’s America has done its job and along with the media and government and has brainwashed many, if not most, of our citizens. Lies are now truth while truth is now ignored.

They only can be brainwashed if they are willing to be. Obviously they are.

True. People aren’t looking at the big picture.

"The big eye opener for me has been that there seem to be so many anti-American American people today."

Sadly true. We have some young relatives who are stridently anti-American. We bite our tongues and discuss safe subjects when we are together. I see it with some of my (high school) students as well, but since it is parochial school, we also have a lot of patriotic and life-affirming students. Those are a breath of fresh air in this turbulent time. I think it must be especially difficult for young adults today when so many of their teachers, professors, and peers are coming at them from the left.

It appears from the news media he only made ONE decision, Dred Scott vs Sanford, and must pay the everlasting penalty for it. Did he ever make any decisions that were OK for all those years he was on the SCOTUS?
