If they remove a statue of Robert E. Lee they will not only drive his admirers underground (of which I am one) but create new ones due to the enormity of the erasure.
Statue removers don’t operate in a vacuum without any consequences; on the contrary they create backlashes.
By removing the statues, they are bound to repeat history instead of learning from it.
